Hi folks,
I'm just about to shift my garden centre up into the air to get away from some of the chronic lag on the ground.... Does anyone know if there is a maximum height limit for setting a tp point?
I presume not, but I thought I'd ask before I start the laborious job of shifting everything around..
Ta!

If you are talking about using a normal TP script, then the max is 300 metres, There are ways around that though, if you need a longer TP give me a call in world, there is a free script available

In that case , depending on what viewer you are usimg it could be up to 4000 metres Remember that anyone using a third party viewer may be stuyck with the old limit though.

With the most recent Clients, 4096 Meters is the highest point you can TP to with a landmark. But if someone using ne of the older clients, or a thord-party client based on oolder code, like the OnRez client, uses that same LM, they will appear at no higher than 768 Meters, and will find themselves involuntarily skydiving.
Most of the scripted Teleport systems are also still limited to 768 Meters altitude. Those that can go farther tend to move you in stages, and the ones I have seen so far atre pretty slow.
This is one of the largest barriers so far to using the additional altitude for Building. Many people simply can't get up there.

I hear it has to be less than 768 Meters.. Any higher then many have had problems posting events on the SL webstie. Tells them the Z coordinates Needs to be changed or something like that

This is one of the largest barriers so far to using the additional altitude for Building. Many people simply can't get up there. You've just gotten ahold of some bad scripting then. I updated warpPos a couple of months ago in the wiki. It can do the whole 4110 meters (0,0,0 to 256,256,4096) in one call. It is as fast or faster then it has ever been. We also have posJump now, which may not be permanent but is even faster. And finally we have one more option now and that is having a teleporter chat slurl's, no map and nothing to rez or touch, just click on the link in your chat window.

Based on what Jade and Jesse said in the last two posts, I suggest the following: Place your build at the altitude you would like (even if it's well above 768m). Set the teleport point to where you would like. At 768m, create a minimal prim build that informs arriving teleporters that the actual destination is up above. Then, provide a prim (a chair?) they can sit on to WarpPos to the venue.

Wonder what the record height is, I am sailing upwards right now in fact, let the computer on and went to bed, and now about 10 hours later I'm at 2,373,000 meters in the sky and climbing My avatar is gone and all I see is the moon and stars

From: DancesWithRobots Soyer Or this one...I go from ground level to 1024 meters with no problem at all. It's quick, free and needs no notecard configuration...It finds peer units and you pick your target via a menu popup. https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=519048Jackie

You need to try my netporter. It's almost instant to any point in the sim, and easier to set up and use than just about anything I've seen. IM me, I'll drop one on you in-world.
