because whenever I log in to world, people can see my avatar etc, and I can see the world, but my avatar looks all corrupt and the menus and bar are all pixellated too. what do you think is causing this?
ps, i downloaded a fresh copy of the app again, and re-installed, but with same result.

There is a folder called Cache. It has to be deleted manually, because uninstall doesn't do it. Try finding it using search, deleting the folder, and then reinstalling. Make sure you're getting the cache folder under Second Life.

Did you delete the Application Data folder for SL? I won't swear that it'll fix things, but it's usually a good thing to do with a fresh install.

cant find the cache folder, so i dragged the whole (second life) folder into the recycle, and ran the windows uninstaller.
installed again, still the same problem, my avatar and all gui elements pixellated and corrupt.
argh!

what OS are you using? deleting that folder does NOT do a full install.
