Looking for a Good Prim Counter for my rentals

I have several rentals and I want a prim counter for my renters to use.

Does anyone use a prim counter that they like that works for rentals?

It must work on individual lots, some of which are 'set' to group and others are 'deeded' to group and both are in the same sim.

Extrems Brock has this available. I will let her know about this thread when SL is back up.

Not heard of one, it would not be easy to do (though not impossible). But anyone can click onthe parcel name at the top of the SL window (assuming your lots are parceled which they really really really really should be) then click on objects and it tells you the total number for that parcel and the number used. And the parcel owner or group member can even find out who owns what objects! (prims).

The built in tool works so well, not heard of a need for in world one before.

(Someone poseted that there was one as I was replying)

Only thing I'd watch out for with that is it will add scripts and lag to your sim. Be real sure the built in iinfo is really not sufficient before placing out more laggy items. (Or don't KEEP them out all the time)

I did run into this thread:

Maybe pop by his rentals and check the creator?

It does, but not everyone who are doing rentals gives tenents the ability to view that in a way where it lists names and individual object count, they need admin-like abilities for that.

For instance, I rent out homes in a SL residential community, and currently the only thing I could think of for them to check prims was for us to tell them how many prims *i* have on the sim, and then when they look at "About land" and view the "Total objects on parcel ____" part, they could just subtract my prim count from that to get theres. But even doing that people are lazy/do not read rules and a prim counter would be much easier.

Yep, Thats why I made one.

The persons who rezzes it must have officer rights (see the prims on the land and be able to press the show button)

Then, anyone can click the box and it will tell how many prims THAT person is using on the plot.

It causes virtually no lag (except when clicked on, of course) since there is only an touch_start event waiting.

Mandy, your product is ideal for what renters are looking for. But most renters need to have one copy for each rental unit. Your product costing 500L a copy is just not affordable for a lot or people.

OUCH!!

There must be somewhere else to get one? Or maybe see if the creator is willing to sell you a copyable one for a slightly higher price.

Either way im glad someone finally made one, I started my rental community almost 2 years ago and wished for one since. I`ll be picking a copyable one up very soon.

Hello,

i was working on one, but it indeed only works if landowner is online,
it will tell the toucher how many prims he has on the parcel.
For the meantime i have placed the script as a L$1 freebie in my script-store.

its not completed, or warranted ;)

Yeah, that's how my script behaves, too. Although, for group-deeded land, it seems to work when the object containing the script is deeded to group, whether or not anybody with group parcel permissions is online. I don't see how the expensive products could get around this, as it seems inherent to the behavior of llGetParcelPrimOwners().

My partner and I own rental properties. We solve this problem by using a database. Tenants are on the door locks and they can add their spouses, roomies, etc. to the door. Our program has two parts. The first part counts up all the prims on our sims and updates the database. Then each cottage has a panel in it, that when clicked returns the prim counts for all of the people living in the cottage (the doors talk to the database every time there is a change). This way they get a true total that they can compare against how many prims they are allowed. And it counts up *all* of their prims....even the ones they lost control of and are now floating above someone else's cottage. :)

Also, this generates a 'junk prim' report for us, so we can easily clear prims put down by people who aren't associated with any cottage.

Naturally, this is a system we devised and scripted ourselves that works for our business. YMMV.
