I have had it happen to me recently, where someone will spam my screen and it is completely untraceable and even if you sign out the spam is still there. How do people do this and how can you stop it.. it is griefing right?
Usually it is green lettering saying some bullcrap and no matter where you go or log off it is still there.

That is some griefer device being sold on xstreet. I used the Emerald viewer and that showed the name of the owner of the device - and then I muted the owner and it stopped.

Usually it is green lettering saying some bullcrap and no matter where you go or log off it is still there. Let me give you some help... turn on offlines to email. When the spam starts, log out. check your email. If the spam made it to your email, there will be a location box for whats spamming you. copy the SLURL and log back into sl, go to the location, and AR it. Also, if its on land that is not owned by the box owner, ask the land owner to return it. If that doesn't help, try opening chat history, and look on the right for the arrows that shows current speakers, if the spam box is listed, mute it that way. IF all else fails, file a ticket and get LL to investigate. Good luck with it ~Brie

Curious about the Emerald Viewer and all the features? http://modularsystems.sl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=24&Itemid=16

The trouble with the Grief Report is...

The trouble with the Grief Report is... That the clever hacker/spammer/ griefer doesn't exist of course. This spam is similar to what happened to me on my second day. Screen flooded with crap, but then when I told the Lindens, useless sods, "file a Grief Report", they said. But I can't, can I, when the bugger hacks its name out of its spamming object. So watch out newbies, don't accept free stuff from strangers. Don't believe it when it says "Free money" cause it's not. And there's something useful that I can do is make a proper repository for "stuff that goes wrong in Second Life" cause I haven't found that yet either. And whatever goes wrong, the Lindens probably can't help because the hackers are cleverer than the establishment. Just like in First Life. The End.

I started to work on a Support page and will link it into the User's Manual.
