I was at a venue today and the host (I believe) was giving out a certain dance I know it is NOT free.. (maybe it should be but thats not the point) I checked the makers Xstreet listing and it was 150L and had Transfer as permissions.
This particular dance she sent was copy trans. and same creator. Who claims to be the original creator of the dance.
My question is, how do you know if you have a pirated or whatever version of an animation or dance?
Now, keep in mind, I bought my version of this dance and it was trans only, and same creator.
I'm not trying to get person in trouble but I am curious afterall about how an animation that lists all over xstreet as trans is being given to people for free and with different permissions....

When I see that, I send a note to the creator. Perhaps some arrangement was made with this person handing it out, but it's up to the creator to handle.

Phoenixa may be right - in fact, once when I notified Craig Altman when I saw a number of his anims being resold in a nameless shop, he kindly responded and told me he has a few reseller agreements.
However, the more likely scenario is that the dance has been stolen. First, I generally tell people when the content they're distributing is stolen - I like to assume the best, which in this case would be ignorance. For example, most people don't know that the full-perms copy of Caramel that they have in their inventory is stolen and the dance is still on sale at Sine Wave.
Then I send a notecard to the creator. .

Yep send a NC to the content creator, and let them sort it out. Only they can file the DMCA anyway, I think.
