Hi I wanted to know if there is something out here to get to keep people that have bought these things to know when you log on or off so their thing won't work properly. What's the use of checking not to be seen when they have these items and isn't it a form of spying or against TOS to do this?

Eh, no it's not against the TOS... it's built into the system. The script queries whether or not an agent's UUID is listed as online (1) or offline (0). The little checkbox only applies to queries made by other agents, not objects nor the scripts embedded.
Just remember, Privacy is a misnomer in the digital world.

An online indicator for you for your clients or someting else?

All I have to do is join a group that you belong to and I can check the member list of that group at any time and know if you are online or not.
So even if you could disable the trackers, it would not do you any good.

Pep (Well, if you are going to be paranoid, you might as well have something serious to worry about)

I suspect that some customer questions are preceded by a friendship offer because the customer just wants to know when you're online before they spend time composing an IM. Of course the friendship offer creates a possible disappointment since I don't want to accept just any offer, so I'd prefer they just use one of those monitors. Particularly if they use one of mine

There is no privacy.
llRequestAgentData( key id, DATA_ONLINE );
Enter their key, of which there are several ways to get, and you can see if they are online or not.

There's only one surefire way to 'hide' your online status, and that's using an alt. It's hardly a TOS violation when there's a scripting function that returns online status. I've found that it's better to not hide your status, and when someone IM's you, just tell them you're busy. That works 99 percent of the time.

re: tracking thing

Well all would be good IF i gave the person my ID, and I'm serious... am in a stalker type situation and why should I have to create an alt when all my friends etc.. are with this name. this person bought a HUD object that tells them when I log on and instantly in my IM's asking where/what etc.. I'm doing, tries to track me down etc. Short of ARing them I wanted to see if there was a counter scripted thing that would make it so they're HUD would not work properly to see me on or not

If he IMS you mute him problem solved he cant contact you. If he tracks you down try to have a habit of being somewhere a friend owns that he can be booted from he will get the hint. Most times these types feed from your reaction I have found ignore them they soon find someone else

From: Kyesha Lisle Short of ARing them As noted mute him and his objects. Ban him from your land if you own any and auto return at 1 minute. If he confronts you then don't be short on the ARing part. AR them again and again and again whenever he shows up and then TP elsewhere.

Judging by the tenor of the other replies, it looks like there is nothing short of ARing that you can do. If it is indeed stalking, it surely qualifies as harrassment, so you should feel free to AR away. However, an alt might be useful, at least for times when you don't need/want to interact with friends - and if you go this route, you must not tell any of your friends the alt exists, lest your stalker finds out indirectly through them.
I would also suggest not contacting or communicating with your stalker in any way, positive or negative, beyond refusing his IMs or other attempts at contact. Lack of feedback is probably the most discouraging result he can get, whether he is hoping for positive contact or getting perverse satisfaction from upsetting you.
