About a month ago, there were some adjustments made to the grid-wide database servers, and a new version of the server software was deployed. Also, some important changes were made in the 1.22.x viewer.
Each week, on Sunday at about 2 PM SL time, a new login record is set.
In the past month, I don't recall any wide-spread disasters of the kind we are used to over the past 2 years or so.
Nice job, people.

Nice job, people. I was thinking about that today, too. Refreshing to note given all the issues a few weeks back.

Is it too early to call LLNet a success? I mean, Saturday morning I did a mad-dash flurry of 40 teleports in under an hour with only one timeout from an overloaded sim. (^_^)
And, today? Just as nice and I just got out of a 65 avatar event that still let me TP in and TP out without a hitch. (^_^)y

Group chat has failed today, for me, in it's usual manner, and there have been many teleport and login failure reports; subjectively to me it seems like more than usual teleport failure reports. Group chat failure is pretty much the norm for me for years now, failure, or that aggravating pause, then an error message that says to resend, then you resend, then it shows twice. I still float into the twilight zone crossing sim borders, textures are still gray for two long.
Reports in forums of not remembering wide-spread disasters in the past month can be caused by packet loss between a user's memory circuitry and their post composition system. Possibly a cup of coffee will restore proper awareness of constant crisis conditions.
My subjective impression of increases in some problems could result from decreases in other problems, making what's left more noticeable, though.

From: Imnotgoing Sideways Is it too early to call LLNet a success? Yes. There are still definitely some issues to hammer out.

From: Imnotgoing Sideways Is it too early to call LLNet a success? I think it's too early to declare sucess there. What I think I've heard is that they tried a semi-big deploy but had to back off and are moving more slowly now. Chunks of the grid are live on LLNet but it's definitely still a work in progress. I've asked Andrew about it on his last couple Thursday office hours, though LLNet isn't really his gig, and gotten a few tidbits. Check the transcripts for what he really said, if you're curious. I've also noticed that the grid seems happier lately but it does seem like sims are laggier than usual over the last few weeks. Dunno if that's perceived or real, though.

I've noticed lag getting increasingly worse to almost paralyzing in the last week or so, and I've been to places where some textures never, ever rez (really annoying when the texture in question is a lucky chair letter). I also suspect RC10 has a major memory leak, as I have found that, lately, when I'm in-world for several hours, I'm hitting swap an awful lot.

A lot of the concurrency increases are due to the fact that LL is losing over 100 sims a week. All that load off the database helps I'm sure. http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/business-land-economy/8523-new-second-life-sims-past-13.html

I would classify this as a wide-spread disaster: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3867

Concurrency is total number of people on the grid. Has nothing to do with the number of regions there are. Yes, the decreasing number of regions may be helping, but that has little to do with concurrency.

Re: LLNet
According to CG Linden (today's Office Hour), the "LLNet" switchover is still ongoing and it is only about 15% done at this stage - so we shouldn't see any real performance differences yet due to LLNet.
