Nisa,
Check out the Building Tips section of the Content Creation Forum. There's really too much to refer you to specific bits as a starter, but read the stickies and then decide what you think is best. Personally I'm wading my way through Blender as a free app to do sculpties and texturing them. |

Do not forget to start at the Wiki, which will explain the concept and has a fairly complete rundown of all the tools available to use to create sculpties.

thank you I didnt know if there was a quick guide for beginners on sculpt prims. I was looking online and wow what they are charging for tutorials for sculpt prims I think is scandulous.
You would have thought that there would be a tool for this in create. |

There are some inworld sculpted programs, but truthfully it's easier just to use third party software outside of SL and import. Textures are the same way--to make a custom texture, you need to use Photoshop/PaintShopPro/GIMP.
That said, there are a fair number of freebie programs out there. Here's the lists from the wiki: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_Prims:_3d_Software_Guide Rokuro/Tokoroten and SculptySpace are discussed here, as they are resident created: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted...rims:_Resident-made_Tools What you use depends on your needs and ambitions. With Rokuro, you could make a simple lathed shape in about 15 minutes of study. With SculptySpace, an evening will teach you to make nice shapes useful for things like dress parts. Spend a week's worth of evenings, you could learn Wings3D, which is really powerful (I used it to make my first sculpted horses). And at the top of the free program pile is Blender, which is notoriously difficult, but once learned will give you a program that in power rivals Maya and other high end 3D modeling programs. For tutorials and such, do a search in the Building Forum. You'll find LOTS of great information. _____________________
