I searched and was unable to find what I am looking for and I hope you will be able to help me.

I would like to change my second life last name. When I joined I did not have an option other than Gossipgirl. Is there anyway I can change that? I see lots of people with other last names and that is what I would like to do.

No there is no way to change your last name. The only option is to create a new account.

All you can do is create another account and choose a name you like most from the list provided when you join your new accout to SL. Otherwise you are stuck with your name...........and the first name too.

Make sure you start through the SL portal though...if you choose one of their partners, you still won't get any choices.

DeltaCharlie - I'd echo what folks said above. Unfortunately, Linden doesn't allow name changes except in extremely rare circumstances.

If I were you - I'd go create a free account *now*. The longer you roam around as DeltaCharlie GossipGirl, the more new friends you'll meet - and the more inventory items you'll inevitably aquire. As each day passes, it'll only become harder to start over & create a new account.

even changing the CAPITALIZATION of your name, you pretty much need to "know someone"... and even then, there's REASONS why LL doesn't change names willy nilly.

I had a friend of a friend who changed her name from tuit to Tuit.

Missing IMs, inventory transfers failing, blah blah blah.. it as a mess. They finally did iron it out, but for a while, EVERY IM someone sent to her, went to her email.

Roll up a new character.

It shows unmitigated self-importance that the "GossipGirl" people would think that EVERYONE would want their corporate identity as their last name.

There is a time ( maybe it still happens) LLABS changes lastnames if 1.)either ( as winter said know someone ). Or 2.) If your having griefter problems and want to restart your SL with a new ID...Resently I seen this happen but LLABS knew that he himself was a griefter.........Then again when you spend alot of money inthe game LLAB will do almost anything for you.......

Y'know.. I really hate this attitude. Considering I've spent a total of around 2000 USD in game and get no better than the average bear, I'd say this is untrue. Hell, even people who own 10 sims complain LL doesn't do enough for them.

Money doesn't get you any special privileges, mate, and generally, knowing someone doesn't really either.

well believe what you like......there was a time not to long ago......when it happened or had happened. If it happens today that is unknown if they still do.

It's probably happened at some point, but if it's a regular thing, then LL is a hell of a lot more corrupt than even you think, mate. They make tons and tons of money off of tons and tons of people. If that skews them, they've got a problem.

Knowing someone within the system is more likely to help in this situation, but in general, also not gonna do much. Changing a name gives no advantage unless in a situation like the griefing or similar. More likely is giving money and such, and Linden's and their alts are apparently adited, so very unlikely.

It's not just a bunch of folks sitting around helping their friends, LL is an organization with protocols, event logs, etc.

I think they probably even log all conversations in case of an internal investigation type thing.

Always has been. People do not ever seem prone to give the benefit of the doubt.

This is one of the few times I have disagreed with you, but awhile back you called me directly on the same issue. Since I used to run across the language issue many times when my wife would receive letters from her mother, I have always taken the translation problem into account. After you mention the same issue to me concerning one of my posts I decided to give you and Usagi the benefit of the doubt. I still must come to the conclusion that she has nothing good to say about sl or anyone in the forums that might perchance have any other opinion that is contrary to her own.

I take the language issue into account. She still spreads a lot of negativity.

Changing a name doesn't really do much of anything in a world of downloadable key2name lists either, someone could always match them up again.

When I used a list a while back I ran into a problem because all the keys weren't unique, there were about a dozen keys listed twice (or more) which meant those accounts had been renamed at one point or another.

I forgot how many keys were there total, but in the tens of thousands at the very least and with only a dozen or so doubles that would mean it happens very infrequently.

Same key with different names.

Same key with the same name wouldn't have been very noteworthy .
