Everyone has been so helpful and I have found the following link which allows me to go to SL w/o having to install - however, I just need someone to walk me through - because I am so darn clueless. Will anyone with computer knowledge AND patience - please tell me step by step how to do this - as in - go to start - go to my computer or whatever I need to do. I appreciate all your help! Thanks! (I don't necessarily need the flashdrive part - I just wanna get to SL!!) http://ets.tlt.psu.edu/gaming/SLOnAFlashDrive

It appears that the instruction on the link you gave are something like this: Create a folder on the flash drive called SecondLife. Highlight the text shown below and copy it by pressing Control C. From: someone : This script will launch Second Life. : When SL is closed, it will delete temp directories that cause PSU Lab problems. : For this script to work, the folder containing the Second Life application : (SecondLife) must be in the same directory as this script. @ECHO OFF ECHO Please leave this window open. ECHO IGNORE ANY "Profile Storage Space" MESSAGES YOU SEE! ECHO Now launching Second Life... ECHO. PAUSE CD /d %~dp0 CD SecondLife START /wait SecondLife.exe RMDIR /q /s "%APPDATA%\SecondLife" ECHO. ECHO Second Life is closing. Now cleaning up your temp files... ECHO. PAUSE CLS EXIT Click on Start, Run, type notepad, and press enter. Do File New. Do Control-V to paste the text copied from the above into the file. Do File Save to save the file. Save the file with the name StartSL.bat, in the SecondLife folder you made on the flash drive. Download the Second Life installation file from secondlife.com/download Run the installation file . When the installation program asks where to install Second Life, make it install Second Life on the flashdrive in the SecondLife folder, the same place you stored the .bat file you saved above. To run SL, you use Windows Explorer, and find the StartSL.bat file and doubleclick it. I haven't tested this procedure. I don't have a flashdrive.

Do you think this is ONLY for people at Penn State - using THEIR computers?

From: Bitsy Melson Do you think this is ONLY for people at Penn State - using THEIR computers? Should work on any computer running Windows XP (can't vouch for Vista). The line that refernces PSU is only a comment. For that matter, you would only have to copy the above batch file starting with the line that says @ ECHO OFF.
