Hi i have had this really annoying problem that no1 has any answers to on the techsupportguy forums so ill try here.
Basicly i am getting 100+fps but it seems to be really stuttery, like it's drawing frames at the wrong time and there are no obvious solutions?
anyone else had the problem?

I'll give it a shot - first, what are your system specs?
Have you updated the drivers on your video card? How's your heat dissipation? Overheating inside the case can cause all sorts of bizzare glitching, not to mention permanent damage. Have you got plenty of fans, etc?
Oooh - here's one that I saw about a year ago. A guy I know updated his video card and didn't do the math on his power supply. He had inadequate power to run the new card and while it still ran, he had all sorts of weird hiccups.
Last thing - if you are running two cards, check your SLi bridge. If it is not connected, you could get a serious drop in performance and bandwidth issues. In fact, that one makes sense, considering how SLi works and the issue you are describing.
Without your system specs, that's all I can do. A couple people in here are way ahead of me on this issue, so maybe they can help.

when zoning i get stutters while all the stuff loads, once it loads it seems ok. there are some times for no good apparent reason other than building going on the zone i am in, the client will freeze for like 5 - 10 seconds.
everything is the latest on my system. 4gb ram, vista 64, 8800gtx, core 2 duo.

Nice system. I've heard there are issues with the 8800 series cards and SL, but I have never been able to get details. Could be an nVidia thing, could be Vista (assume that everything is always Vista's fault). Could be server side and not your issue at all. Heck, slow loading could be bandwidth from your provider. When I used a wireless network for a brief period instead of a cable connection I wanted to beat my head into the wall it was so slow.
5-10 second waits for stuff to load is not something to get worried about. Most people have way worse load times than that.

Hi Chaos,
I've noticed the same thing happening if I've left myself logged on, say, overnight. When I come back in the morning, stuff is all jittery, just like you described. The only way that I've found to correct it is to physically reboot the computer, which does fix it instantly.

If your getting 100FPS on your end and the sims average FPS is 30ish, yes.. that would make the graphics stutter badly. Back off the performance settings and give the vid card more to think about on each frame. Sliders to quality, force AA/AF in the driver, enable Vsync to cap it all. Just like specs that aren't good enough, the more you OVERrun what SL can give you, the worse is runs too.
For the 5-10 second freeze thing, sounds like it's writing to the page file during that time. With 4gigs of memory and a 64bit OS you're dealing with larger chunks of info and moving more of it at a time when it has to. Check to see if the harddrive light is on when it does this.

I have this problem and put it down to memory leak and find the only way to use SL is to close down and reboot. I found Nicholaz's viewer cured it until the last sl update and now it doesn't.

this happenes to me if i leave my computer on more then 48 hours without rebooting.
reboot allways fixes it for me.
does your computer still do this after a reboot? if so it may be hardware overheating problems or perhaps a leaky memory in some program your running on start up

I got the exact same problem, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512, after a clean boot (xp 32 bit) no problems at all, but try and run SL a day later and its stuttering timewarp style. It's as if all the even frames are on time, and the odd frames are lagging a second behind...
If anyone finds a fix, I'd be a very happy avatar...

From: Trout Recreant ...I've heard there are issues with the 8800 series cards and SL,... FWIW, the 8800's are pretty much fine as long as you DON'T install the lastest driver. It's an nVidia thing. I have no idea about the OP issue tho.
