"The object 'Second Life' has sent you a message from Second Life:
Your object 'Object' has been returned to your inventory lost and found
folder by ******* from parcel '*************************' at ****** 73.2732, 194.378 due to parcel owner
return.

= Second Life is owned by *********
= Location unknown."

it's not your autoreturn that's causing it. It's whatever parcel you left your stuff on.

These are *your* objects being returned to you. Most of us want our stuff back when it gets lost, and complain when it's not.

it shouldn't happen to you on your own land.
Is the land set to group?
Is that your active group?

(right click yourself, choose groups, make sure the landowner is active)

The message said 'parcel owner return' soooo either it's group land and someone in the group has object return priveleges, or you have given someone else permission to modify your objects and they are 'deleting' them which returns them to your inventory.

If it were autoreturn, the message would say 'auto return'. 'owner return' means an avatar is doing it.

I find this topic very interesting. I havent had my own objects returned to me on my own land, (yet) but since the last two maintenance/update sessions, I have had pieces disappear from one particular building of mine. After the last but one maintenance/update the very large front part of the roof of my main project disappeared! And some things I had inside the building disappeared! After last weeks maintenance/update, another part of the roof disappeared, this time at the rear of the building, and inside a couple of things totally went but other things moved to slightly different positions altogether and I discovered that the deep foundations of my shops which were well covered with grass are now showing themselves quite considerably! I have ban lines around my main project while I am working on it and only a few friends can access it.

I know it wasnt me accidentally deleting/taking them into my inventory. I know I have the right group set for the land. I know that the only person who is allowed to do things with my objects/land, has not done any of these things. I know its not extremely bad lag, the things that went missing never reappeared anywhere with the exception of the latter missing roof part which was in place again on Friday! The first part of roof that went missing I had to replace myself, (thank goodness there was a copy in the inventory)!

I have been mulling over whether it is possible that somehow someone could alter things without my permission, like those that know how to get into a locked building and so on. But as it only happened each time after maintenance, then I think it is really to do with however everything settles into place afterwards maybe. I am not technically knowledgeable about how LL do stuff when working on the grid, but to an uninformed mind, it seems to me just something new happening when they fix (lol) the grid.

I suspect as the OP's city is disappearing, then it might be the same problem I am now having. It would be interesting to see if others have noticed this with their property/land but have just been puzzling over it thinking they might have done something themselves.

Winchendon, Not sure if this will help, but a couple of my friends had parts of items dissapear when in sandboxes building. When they asked me, i could actually still see them and have seen a thread refering to this. In their cases all that was needed was for anyone, even themselves, to click on part of the build and open their edit window, then the vanished parts re-appeared for the owner.

Of corse if its a SL hick-up...err huge belch then this wont help you but prob worth trying if you havnt already. :)

Thanks for the suggestion Blinky, but I did try that and all sorts of other things. Even had a couple of friends come over to see as well. But the objects had totally gone, disappeared, vanished, left forever somewhere out there in the virtual world! And they havent been returned to me by others (or myself or members of my group) either. With the one exception that reappeared on the Friday, after disappearing on the Wednesday before after the maintenance/upgrade!

It has never happened before to me (except when I knew I had accidentally wrecked the building twice before lol), it just seems to be a new kind of phenomenon happening!

If the "returned by ******" names the person returning them, ask that person what's up.

That person has the ability to return your objects, which may be for a couple of reasons already mentioned (being part of the group that owns the land if it is group owned, or having modify rights to your objects.)

So if I supposedly get stuff sent back to me, and it doesn't reappear in my inventory, it reverts itself back to the owner of the land and not me?

It should be in your lost and found folder

Pfffttt. I wish all my junk was in the lost and found folder. I've cleared the cache, uninstalled/reinstalled. It's just gone.

Do you have a rezzer that is rezzing something like butterflies or dragonflies or other particles? That is why so many objects are getting returned. They start on your land and then float off onto someone else's who doe's not allow object entry.

Particles are not objects and aren't auto returned. Particles are viewer side only and they do not exist in the simulator. This is why you can't right click a particle and get any information.

Hmmmmm, I used to get that message all the time until I removed a particle generator from my land.

My question was for the OP, not you. Sorry for the confusion. And apologize on behalf of Linden Lab and their inability to provide you with an asset server that won't lose your personal belongings.

Set Auto Return to 0 minutes to disable it.

However, I agree that is probably not what is causing it. WHO did the message say returned your stuff?

I agree. I get objects auto-returned all the time with the message from the original post when I rezz them on group land with the wrong group set to active.
