Hello: So I've got myself a couple of small skyboxes to use for a personal changing room, perhaps have a little bit of privacy (well, as much as you can in SL). But I'm having trouble entering them. The ones that do have, have no discernible entry. How do I get in and out? I've tried "sitting" on it, but it just attaches to me and wobbles all over.
Any help is very much appreciated!

Can you cam into it and put a chair or something inside- then you will be able to sit on tht chair when you are camming in from outside. If the box is modable you could cut a door into one side also.

If so, how to I add the prim so that it is actually a part of the skybox itself?

There are two ways in. The first will work for any fully-enclosed skybox, the second will only work for furnished ones.
Option1: Rez a cube on the skybox roof. Sit on the cube, then edit it and move it down inside the skybox. Once you've stood up and deleted the box, set a landmark inside the skybox so you can return more easily.
Option2: Use your camera to look inside the skybox, and right-click-sit on a piece of furniture inside. That should move you into the skybox. Once inside, set an LM.
If you're using the skyboxes at a sandbox, and thus can't set an LM because you're only rezzing them when you need them, see if you can edit the skybox and link a pose stand to it on the floor somewhere while the skybox is on the ground. Then, just cam inside and stand on the pose stand, then set your skybox's height (Z value in the Object tab, in edit mode) to whatever you want.

Yeah, I would only be using it in a sandbox or in sim that allows building. I have no land of my own.

From: Siouxdax Matahari Thanks so much! Yeah, I would only be using it in a sandbox or in sim that allows building. I have no land of my own. In that case, teleporters wouldn't be much use.. i was thinking in terms of a more permanent structure. Though if you have something scripted in your skybox to act as a beacon it wouldn't be that difficult to make a hud that would communicate with it and rez objects on which you could sit and then be tp-d to the beacon. Or it could use llOwnerSay() and send you a slurl to click on. If it's only for temporary use, take a look at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Multi_Item_Rezzer by Jesse Barnett. You could put your skybox in that, and have the device take you to your desired altitude and rez the box round you. Then it deletes it for you when you leave. If you've made a LM for your departure point, when you've finished with the skybox you could use the LM to tp back to earth and wait for the rezzer to join you a few seconds later after it's finished cleaning up after you.

Try editing one prim on the roof to add a hollow, that you can fly in through?
The easiest method though, if you're just using it in a public sandbox, is the earlier suggestion of rezzing a prim on top, sitting on the prim, and editing the prim's position to move you inside. One of my first skyboxes, that was all we ever used for getting to it. We rezzed a prim at a point we knew was exactly below it, sat on the prim, and edited the height of the prim to take everyone seated on the prim up into the skybox. We also noted what the ground level elevation was, for riding it back down.

It is possible to use a "sit tp" script to enter a skybox with the rightclick Sit command. Since the sit target is relative to the position of the prim the script is in, you'll always arrive at the same relative position within the skybox no matter its location. I did this with a Borg cube I made long ago, works fine, although the trick then is finding a way out. In that case I used a door script that made the roof prim hollow on contact so you could just fly up and out with the "door" closing behind you. (Yes, it would also open if you landed on it, so it was a 2nd means of entry.)

Put the skybox in a box with a simple rezzer script. So when you want to work you sit on the box, edit it to taste, then touch it to run the rezzer script. Or you can just rez it against a prim you're sitting on but then you're back to editing yourself back into the box.

Stand on the roof - edit a roof panel to phantom - drop inside -edit panel to non-phantom.
Ta da!

Yikes! So many options! But I think Rime has the simplest one so far. I'm no good at doing anything that requires prim education, but I think I can handle phantoming a roof tile... maybe. LOL. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers! And thank ALL of you!

If it's a single object that all goes phantom, you'd better be in flight mode! Then descend into the skybox and edit to non-phantom

Yes, turning one prim of a linked object phantom will turn the entire object phantom. You could unlink the desired prim beforehand, if your skybox is copyable, and then delete both pieces when you're done.
OR, if you want to mess with people, rez a pose stand, stand on that, and then turn the skybox phantom. Watch uninvited visitors drop in... and drop right back out. Just remember not to step off the pose stand...

The library chair (It's called that) works well. And it's in everyone's inventory (library.)
Shove it into the skybox, then cam in and sit on it. =)
The no-entry skyboxes are mainly for people who can set home inside them. Then you only have to do the chair trick once.

You'd have to unlink a section then make just that phantom. If you are rezzing each time and deleting after use then no big deal to just unlink the entire object. Select skybox, edit then press Control+shift+L Then select a panel, edit and make it phantom. To select everything to delete when you are done you can cam back so it's all in view. Select and edit one part then using the mouse, click top and left of the skybox, hold the mouse down and drag a selection box to bottom right. Everything will show selected. Then just hit the delete key. Rime

OP, if I could make you a skybox that's low prim, what style would you prefer? I'll put a door in it.

You really don't need a skybox anymore inside a sandbox. With the new sky limit set to 4000 an open platform sitting at above 2000 rarely gets visited by griefers, curious cats, etc. But if you really want a skybox you should make a hud that rezzes the skybox around you when floating in the sky. No need for doors when you're already inside.

Something I do quite often: From Mystitool (I think the free version also has it) rez the simple posing stand. Stand on it, then edit it and move it (and yourself) where you need to be. Quick and easy. ...doesn't always work to get out of dungeons that have RLV no-build enabled, unfortunately.
