it seems to happen to me only when I am on a pose stand, or sitting on furniture. Which is horribly inconvenient since if I am trying to adjust my hair...I'm going to be on a pose stand. Hope they fix this soon.

Hope they fix this soon. Same here, and it seems to be getting worse. At first it was just my hair and only on my working pose stand some of the time. Now it is on my photo stand too and happens much more regularly. ![]() _____________________

It's all about camera position and the fact that whatever you're sitting on has an alpha texture or applied transparency. Keep trying posing stands until you fine one that works, throwing out the ones that don't. For stuff like poseballs, which almost universally are scripted to go full-alpha when you sit on them, well... use one of the old 1.20 viewers, or wait till 1.22.

hmmm...I'll have to go inworld later and double check, but I don't think my working stand has any alpha textures or transparency.... The Photo stand is set to go transparent for taking pics, so I guess i could try setting it to show instead of hide for closeups when it doesn't matter anyway and see if that helps.

This has been happening to me recently too, especially when my partner and I get to get together for a spot of 'ow's yer father' - a recent phenonmenon (teh disappearing hair, not the sex)

I've had it happen while just standing on the ground.
It seems sometimes the client just decides to cull an entire attachment, but I am nowhere near a repro. I get the vibe that a fair bit has changed in the render pipe in the upcoming version, so I am crossing my fingers that it'll go away. Several other weird quirks have been mentioned as being fixed in that one. ETA: Of course, there's also the "avatar is invisible except for a couple of attachments until you zoom in", which I suspect is somehow rather closely related. |

Dealt with this bug for a couple of weeks. Seems to go away when I relog. Even had customers telling me that certain portions of their hair are gone. So then I need to respond of course and tell them about this bug. Hopefully it goes away soon.

actually Qie, I tried the non alpha textures (basic plywood texture) pose stand and it worked fine, until one day, without moving the stand, or changing anything around me, it started happening again I got caught by this particular problem because I used to sell a scripted "mirror" that had an alpha texture on the back. When I removed that texture, the problem stopped, and then I started testing posing stands, etc., and it seemed reproducible. But who knows? Anyway, I pulled the mirror from sale anyway, along with all but a couple of items. (Having an unrelated "identity crisis" in SL at the moment; more convinced than ever that SL "retail" was never one of my aspirations.) _____________________

I am not sure if I have understood what you mean (1:30 am here, and I am dense at the best of times) but anyway:
Elgyfu's Four Useful Techiniques for Taking Photos Of Yourself Up Close: 1 - Use something in the background as the handle for moving the camera - often this lets you zoom far closer to yoursef 2 - If there is nothing suitable in the background....rez a tiny box and position it immediately behind yourself (behind in relation to the side you are photographing on), then use this as your 'handle' for moving the camera around. With a little adjusting you will find the ideal distance it needs to be from you to let you look at yourself close up - ideal for photographing (or fitting) earrings etc 3- stand on a posting stand for either of the above (so you don't wiggle around) and also this can sometimes let you zoom in closer than if you were not on it - try different static poses too, some seem happier about letting you get close than others for some reason For anyone who doesn't know what I mean by 'handle': If you hold down CTRL and ALT, then left click on a SL object or person, then whilst still holding the mouse button (and the CTRL ALT) move your mouse, you will swing around the object. You can also use your mouse wheel to zoom in and out. If you have never tried this, it is FUN! 4 - Get a Space Navigator - it allows some really fine camera work and is great fun to play with - a must if you do machinima, btw _____________________
