You know that grey dude that's supposed to play the animation before uploading? Yes, well, he no longer works for me. I'm still on the older SL version since I see no reason to upgrade.
So I ask again, as I asked the other day to only find no helpers =p Could someone PLEASE attempt to upload an animation and let me know if your little dude moves? No matter what I toggle, he just stays there while in Play mode. My animations work fine, but I'd really like to preview them.

I uploaded some earlier, probably around the time of your post, and had no problems with the little grey dude.
I always run the latest viewer so I have the latest fixes and the most up to date bugs.

I'm afraid the animation preview was not working for some time, but it has been fixed in the latest client version.

I always preview animations on the beta grid. The little grey man doesn't work there either (for me, at least) but it doesn't cost anything to upload. Also, you get a much better idea of how it will look once it's uploaded.

The little gray dude/dudette works fine for me and I have 19 (4) which BTW I cant seem to find the link for the old viewers anymore.

They seemto be fixed in the new viewer. I think you have a reason to upgrade now.
