Well I tried to create a SLUR for each of my 5 new art galleries... and maybe I am illiterate when it comes to following directions, but I seem to be getting only an error message... Can anyone out there help me with step by step instructions in layman's terms...? (This is for someone who knows NOTHING about HTML, direction strings, or scripting of ANY kind...me.) here are the locations I want to make SLURS for: url]http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pelham[/url] Bay/230/91/602 http://slurl.com/secondlife/Fenland West/210/224/66 http://slurl.com/secondlife/Anushka/74/223/301) http://slurl.com/secondlife/Corfeld/146/235/72) http://slurl.com/secondlife/Misto Presto/153/41/14 And I hope this is the right place to ask this question, I didn't see any other places that seemed appropriate.

they work fine for me. Note though, that spaces should be %20 so that all browsers read them correctly. So: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pelham Bay/230/91/602 Becomes http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pelham%20Bay/230/91/602And so on

also, SLURLs should look like this:
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Anushka/74/223/301/ Not http://slurl.com/secondlife/Anushka/74/223/301)
They should always end in a slash /
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pelham%20Bay/230/91/602/ http://slurl.com/secondlife/Fenland%20West/210/224/66/ http://slurl.com/secondlife/Anushka/74/223/301/ http://slurl.com/secondlife/Corfeld/146/235/72/ http://slurl.com/secondlife/Misto%20Presto/153/41/148/
Personally though, I prefer using secondlife:// links instead.
secondlife://Pelham%20Bay/230/91/602/ secondlife://Fenland%20West/210/224/66/ secondlife://Anushka/74/223/301/ secondlife://Corfeld/146/235/72/ secondlife://Misto%20Presto/153/41/148/

I think slurs are usually uncalled for, but something like "phlegmy pus-spewing scumbags" works in many situations.
Assuming you mean slurls, I always create them the lazy way. Stand where you want the slurl to reference, bring up the map, click Show My Location, and click to copy the slurl to your clipboard.

Pretend I am in kindergarden and know NOTHING so far.
(I wonder if we have any kindergarden teachers reading this?)
And no...I know what you are thinking...and this is NOT the Friday thread!

You should be able to get a slurl from the map. At the bottom right corner of the map there's a button to "Copy SLURL to clipboard". Then you paste it somewhere with Control V or whatever the paste command is on your system. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sandbox%20Cordova%20MONO/129/126/21The one above was produced in that manner. I note that it does not have a closing slash. I'm not sure whether the statement above that a SLURL should always have a closing slash is correct or not. If so, the map button's function should be adjusted by LL to produce proper SLURLs.

They do not require a closing slash. However, closing it with a ')' is incorrect, as stated above.

http://slurl.com/build.phpgo there ^ fill out the form, e.g. Region: Pelham Bay X: 230 Y: 91 Z: 602 you can leave the rest blank...those aren't really important... then click [Generate SLURL] at the bottom of the page you will notice a box with a title saying "Your SLURL" For the details above it says: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pelham%20Bay/230/91/602/copy and paste the words in this box to where you need the SLURL to be....this is your SLURL. If you are posting the SLURL on the forums, you can post it with the url tags like this: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pelham%20Bay/230/91/602/Just make sure you enclose the entire address, rather than part of it. People can then paste this into their internet browser and it will take them to the webpage where, if they are inworld, they can choose to teleport straight there.

From: Keira Wells They do not require a closing slash.
However, closing it with a ')' is incorrect, as stated above. "do not require" and "should" are two different things. It was my impression that when properly formed, SLURLs SHOULD end in a slash, since future incarnations of SlURLS may in fact use the rotation/facing data. However now that I gio inworld and use the map "Copy-SLURL-to-Clipboard" function, I see that officially generated SLURLS do not end in a slash. HOWEVER, the "OFFICIAL SLURL MAKER" DOES generate SLURLS with a / at the end. Here is a "Full" SLURL I made as a test. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lost%20Angles/128/128/27/?img=http%3A//slurl.com/_img/logo.png&title=Test&msg=This%20is%20a%20testNote that the coordinates end in a /.. and are immdeiately followed by a ?. Everything after the ? is data being fed to the "php" or other script at this virtual URL. If that slash were NOT present, the ? would run up against the 27. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lost%20Angles/128/128/27?img=http%3A//slurl.com/_img/logo.png&title=Test&msg=This%20is%20a%20testBoth seem to work. HOWEVER, the URL in this case is virtual, and not real. There is no "secondlife" directory, containing a "Lost%20Angles" directory, containing a "128" directory... but it mimicks the formatting of a directory structure like that. WERE these "actual" directories, without the slash, we would be feeding these variables to a php (or other) script that was simply named "1"... WITH the slash, we would be feeding these variables to the "default" or "index" file, which in this case would probably be index.php. While it's true that it works both ways, LL's misuse of the directory slash in this case offends my mind less if you put a slash at the end of your SLURL.

Given that I wrote the build.php page, which is a very simple interface to SLURLs, I can safely say that it makes not a jot of difference if you care to put a slash at the end or not.
Wait! That would not be sufficient! Er, you must put a slash there if your surname ends in a consonent and has three syllables; if not, do not use a slash, or your SLURL will redirect to Lolita Furry Porn World.

Thanks for the easy to use page, Ordinal. And now for the great excuse I can use when being caught out at Lolita Furry Porn World!
