Hello - I just downloaded the new version of SL onto my computer, replacing the old version, and I am assuming that my computer just doesnt support it. Almost every 15 seconds it lags really bad. It almost freezes and it makes SL so un-enjoyable. Its frustrating when you are just trying to talk to someone and you cant. I am wondering if anyone knows of like an archive of old SL versions I can download? I am needing the link to download the old version (1.19.0.5). Or if anyone has it and can give it to me I definitely would appreciate it. Please help. You can contact me with an IM to Erin Kiwi, or send me a notecard with suggestions or help.

Thank you,
Erin Kiwi.

I have the updated version and it runs fine.

But...a few days ago on the blog they posted a link to the old version so you can still use that if the new one is giving you troubles. Not sure what the issue might be....but you may want to be sure and adjust the graphics settings....could be they are too high and it's taxing your g-card which isn't supporting it. Check out the blog here....

Welcome to the Forums!

The blog post (http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/04/04/update-to-second-life-119-viewer-now-required/) announcing the new standard viewer release linked to another blog post (http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/04/03/the-new-viewer-a-well-oiled-machine/) that included a link to 1.19.0.5 (http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second_Life_1-19-0-5_Setup.exe for those on Windoze).

(It's often difficult for folks on the Forums to be in-world--that's why they're on the Forums :p -- so notecards and IMs aren't necessarily forthcoming. From the "User CP" button, one can turn on Forums Private Messages, though, which is usually a good thing to do.)

I see people wanting to backpedal all the time, so here's a general safety tip:

The older versions are usually available somewhere, but they are not easy to find. That's why I never install a new version directly from the download page. Always save the download file to your hard drive first.

I keep at least the previous one or two versions as zipped download files, so I can always reinstall them.

I do the same thing with ALL my programs and drivers. My Downloads folder looks like a bloody historical archive.

There it is! I know someone posted it in here somewhere but I couldn't find it. Luckily I transfered the url to my e-mail. Same thing happened to me and I had to go back to this version!
