Getting Photos "out" of inventory?

I know the snapshot viewer gives you options to save your snapshot to hard disk, email or upload to inventory. Once it is uploaded and appears under Photo Album, is there any way to email it or save to the hard drive? There are many photos I wanted to email, but I didn't do it when I had the chance. Thanx for any info you can provide...I'm still learning a lot about inventory.

Hi there and welcome to the forum :)

If you just open the picture from your inventory, then go to "file"menu, you will see an option "save texture as..", click that and you can save the picture to your harddrive.

Good luck :)

Yes thanks from me too Sally. That will come in very useful.

Usually I send all the pics I take directly to the hard drive. Saves a lot of $10L that way, and then I can upload just what I want. Usually I edit the image some anyway, so it works out well.

Note: This will save the file in a format like .tga or something like that, and not .jpg or .bmp. Paint Pro and Photoshop can open .tga files (or whatever format it is that it saves as, been a while since I did this).

You can also do a PrtScr straight to a graphics program; usually this lets you zoom in more closely, get interesting camera angles, etc. and also lets you save in whichever format you like. If you want to upload it back into SL eventually it'll have to (or really really SHOULD be) a Targa (.tga) file.

It should? I thought it was supposed to be PNG or JPEG 2000 or some such.

You're very welcome too :-)

These days I usually take mine straight to drive for upload to Flickr.
But when people send me pics inworld to put on t-shirts, it's useful to know how to get them out of there. :D

And yes, should have added the file conversion thingy. :o

I THINK and don't quote me on this... I THINK Targa 32 bit is the only type that supports alpha channels. I would so not take my word on this but would go check the texture forums where people smarter than me have posted The Word.

I _think_ you're right :D

You can upload other file formats, but TGA is the answer for files with an alpha channel.

Chosen says so, so I ain't arguing :D

PNG supports alpha transparant...

Be careful of using this format if the texture does _not_ need it. 24-bit TGA is good but I've seen alpha-sorting weirdness uploading a PNG file that didn't have any transparant parts. I assume 32-bit TGA might have the same weirdness.

By definition 24 bit .tga is only RGB, no alpha. The alpha is the extra 8 bits (aka 32 bit.)

Unless you use PSP in which case the programme tells you it's still 24..... just to confuse matters :D

you could also, in your inventory, copy asset UUID, a uuid is a string of numbers and letters that represents the image in the secondlife databases

with the uuid you can view teh photo on the web with this

http://slspacebux.com/texture.php

or use it in LSL to put it on any prim with

llSetTexture("uuidstringhere",ALL_SIDES);

and stuff
