I posted this message on the building forum and received no replies, so trying again here. Both programs cost quite a bit of lindens so I want to research as much as I can prior to purchase.
Many thanks in advance.

I'm at the point of investing in a good jewelry linking program. I've used the free version of Linkrez (Looprez) but from reading the information on Linkrez it sounds like it has a lot more features.
I just looked it up on XStreet and happened to see a similar product called Beadrez. Has anyone used this and are there any pros or cons to one over the other?

I think it's a script that rezzes a bunch of little prims in a circle to make a necklace. Just does the work of placing them for you. I've always placed all my prims by hand, so I can't offer any advice on such devices. I prefer my necklaces aren't perfectly symmetrical anyway, as it's more realistic.

Hi Czari. I actually like to play with stuff like this, and I have played with or picked up both of them over the last year or two. Now, I only fiddle with them for fun, so I haven't taken the time to make either work to its full potential, so my opinion is that of someone who just wants to rez one, and play around seeing what I can get it to do. I have to say, I like Bead-rez a little better because I find it to be more intuitive. Also, the scripter is still providing updates for this product, and last I heard the maker of the link-rez wasn't in SL much. (He may have come back since then, and his is a fine product too, but his blog hasn't been updated in some time.)
I will say, as powerful as these tools are, I think they get a bad wrap for producing necklaces with flat links that make a sharp curve from the part around the back of the neck to the front. They are capable of much more though, if you take the time to play with them and then adjust the prims manually once the machine rezzes something that is a good starting point. Like anything else in SL, the better you are at building by hand, the better the results will be.

/waves to Bri - I first was introduced to Looprez which is the free version of Linkrez in a class on making flexi skirts. And yep, it does exactly what Darien said: it automatically takes one link prim and duplicates it. The reason I am looking into the paid version is because it does a lot more thinks like using different sized links or beads or any tiny prim in one piece, can twist different ways, etc. Thank you everyone for responding and I sincerely appreciate your input, Nimue, as both programs are fairly expensive and I didn't want to invest in something I might not use or doesn't work as well as advertised. Beadrez is quite a bit less expensive that Linkrez, so I'm really pleased to hear your experience with it. I've made earrings and bracelets and for the earrings made the links by hand, but have always been intimidated to try a necklace due to the intricacy of doing so many tiny links manually. I watched the video demo of Beadrez and it looks promising but, as you said, the more comfortable one is with building and the more time one puts into learning it, the more things it can do attractively. This has pretty much made my decision for me. Thank you again so much.

LinkRez and BeadRez The price of LinkRez (and the LoopRez products) has been halved, to make them more competitive One difference between LinkRez and BeadRez: LinkRez has a "note card program" feature that generates necklace chains composed with an unlimited number of DIFFERENT link types. This is described in the last lesson of the tutorial, including some pictures. But here's an example of what I mean. Notice that the front of the necklace is made up of one large central multi-prim item, with a couple of alternating links, and then a bunch of alternating diamind / sapphire small links. Then, the back is made up of tube links. All this was made in one shot with a notecard program Which to get? Because I'm no longer active in-game, and unavailable to teach people how to use the products, I've posted detailed tutorials on how to use LinkRez on-line. As before, *** I recommend that NOBODY buy LinkRez unless they've read the entire tutorial, and understand it. *** It's a nifty tool, but if the tutorial sounds like gibberish to you, I'd rather you not waste your money. ========== Incidentally, LinkRez is NOT at all related to LoopRez, other than that I wrote them both - LinkRez rezzes single OR multi prim links in a modifiable NECKLACE shape - LoopRez rezzes single prims in a FLAT ELLIPSE shape, more suitable to skirts Hope your Second Lives are good. Perhaps someday I'll return.

Hi, Ged! I really appreciate your taking the time to post this. It is extremely helpful to me in deciding which product would be best suited for my work. Thank you as well for the information re: the ability to produce different types of links at once. I will definitely read/watch the tutorials. Hope to see you in SL again, but I definitely understand the desire/need to take breaks now and then. Again, many thanks
