For some reason my character started smiling every other second today. I took off every single attachment and she still would not stop smiling. How do I disable facial expressions? Thanks.

Facial expressions are just animations--very special animations, to be sure, but still just animations, so something is causing them to replay on the avatar.

The first thing to be sure of is that others are seeing these expressions. If others are not seeing the expressions, usually a relog is the quickest way to get things back to normal on one's own viewer.

If others are seeing it (or it doesn't go away with a relog), then something is actually pushing that animation onto the avatar over and over, and there are only so many ways that can happen. Indeed by removing all attachments, the most common source is eliminated. Sitting on something is another way to be animated without explicitly granting permission, but that's not likely here.

So it may be that something that had permission is still rezzed in-world and pushing those animations. Something like a dropped AO. If that's the case, teleporting to a distant sim should stop the animation--and then it becomes a problem of returning and sweeping the sim to find the dropped object.

The only other thing that comes to mind is some sort of Gesture, possibly associated with Voice. I never touch Gestures nor Voice if I can help it, so if it's that, somebody else will be better equipped to figure it out.

Thanks for the informative answer Qie, I'll try a relog, as I checked my house and I didn't drop anything there.
And Ovaltine your one-word attempt is really funny, I forgot how to laugh. Too bad it's applied to the wrong thread. This is a thread asking for help, not asking for an answer to a funny riddle.

I don't know why so many girls use those silly smiles. They look sooooo stupid (imo).

YES.......... but not nearly as stupid or odd or scary as many of the emotions that people put into their MLP to associate with the pixel bumping animations.

Also - if a relog does not fix it, very rare but it does happen this way -- try "stop all animations" under one of the menus. Sometimes the darn things seem to get stuck even when we are not associated with the offending object any more.

Suki, sometimes if you have an AO, the stands have smiles or expressions built in. Also check to see if you have a gesture active. I think searching your inventory with the word active will show you what gestures are running. Sometimes you can activate a gesture by accidentally triggering it in chat or clicking an F key.

Human avatar smiles are another reason it's great to be a ferret.
