You guys have been so much help to me. Now I have a real problem. I am willing to try to be very civilized about it,but it is a catastrophe. I've rented some land and bought a beach house. I rezzed it alright, but when I TPed back later the front half of the house was gone. There was an asset server glitch that day, so I waited two days. This AM there was nothing left but the front doors and the steps. I take-ed everything I could see and then rezzed the house again. I went upstairs where there were extra window pieces all over, so I take-ed them. And when I got back downstairs the front half of the house was gone again. I bought the house from a Jack Weaver and I have sent him several notecards, which he prefers to IM, but have heard absolutely nothing from him.
How can I get his attention, or cancel out this sale and get my L$2000 back? Or what should I do to move this problem along to a solution? As you might guess I am plenty sore about this. It has already screwed my peersonal life. But, as you have all advised me, I'm ready to be decent and civilized, and not to show my anger.
Thanks.

First, check your Lost and Found folder. It sounds like your house was auto returned to you by the landlord. Were you made part of a group when you rented the land? It sounds like you may not have been wearing your group tag when you rezzed the house, so the landholder would see it as a "foreign substance". Or, there may be something else that you need to do to make the house "legal" on the rented land.
Suggest you check L&F...it's probably there, and see your landlord.
Second, was it contained on your rented parcel? Turn on "View Property Lines" if you can re-rez the house and make sure it's inside the parcel bounds. Otherwise it will get auto returned to you. Good luck!

Lots of houses come in pre-fabricated linked chunks. You might have several sections in one house. When you use a rezzer, it puts down all the sections in correct relation to eachother, but doesn't recognize parcel boundaries. It's possible that one of the linked sections was centered over your neighbor's parcel, and he has Auto-Return turned on. Check your Lost and Found folder in your Inventory to see if you have a bunch of coalesced (look like stacks of boxes) objects there.
If you do, you might have to really examine your property lines and find out exactly where each house section is centered, and move the whole thing accordingly.

Thanks. First be sure that (this may seem simple but hey it's happened to me, lol) you actually have enough prims on your rented land parcel for the house. Is this Jack, from Houses that Jack Built? If so, he WILL contact you, I'd bet on it, he's very responsible. How many prims does your land parcel support? Also check Auto Return on your land, is it set to return stuff? Are you wearing the right tag when you rez, so your stuff will stay put? Just a few things to check first. I don't think it's the house that's the problem here but the land perms, or prim count. Is your beach house named 'Laguna'? I have a beach house from Jack, named Laguna Beach House that I've had up for a long time on my mainland parcel, with no problems at all. If it is from Houses that Jack Built, his houses are all copy so you will always be able to start over.

OMG I bet it's the group tag!!! Edwardo......make sure you're wearing your rental group tag whenEVER you place things on your land! There's plenty of prims available.....so that isn't the problem.....but I never even thought to ask about the group tag~!!! My bet is it's really just that simple. It's NOT the house.....there's nothing wrong with the house..... Buzz me later if you're still having problems......but my gut tells me it's a group tag goof~!!!

Doesn't sound like the house creator's fault at all. There are a lot of ways to have this happen to you, and most of them involve autoreturn, group tags, property lines, prim limits, all that kinda stuff. Perhaps someone would be nice enough to drop inworld and take a look at the problem with you; I bet it can be easily resolved.

What everybody else said. Jack is a very reputable builder and this doesn't sound like something going wrong with the actual house anyway. It sounds to me like part of the house was on somebody else's parcel and they returned it, and then the rest of it got auto-returned because you didn't have your group tag on when you rezzed it.

Ever notice how helpful and polite this group can be when an honest, non-confrontational question is asked, and conversely, what a bunch of mad dogs we can become when provoked? /me nods in approval

/me nods in approval also notice that a lot of the posters in this thread, avoid confrontational threads As to the OP, I am guessing the group tag thing too, that was my first thought. I hope they do report back, that way it can also help anyone else in that situation that does a search and finds this thread

You can get 5-6 different answers to a question here in a single thread, all of which apply to the problem. Compare this to a "sanitized", correct answer in a Linden-managed blog. I'm reminded of my first post here (under my av's name) where I could not get my skybox to fly because I couldn't change the Z value under edit. I got many good, valid answers until I realized that my Num Lock key was turned off (I always leave it on), which is why I couldn't enter a numeric value in the Z position field. Who knows how many people were helped by that short thread?

And, all the good solid, thoughtful responses, from honest to goodness people who understand scripting, that I got on my wolf howl yesterday (wolfie.wav, bless him). Heck I am grateful for that kind of thing because I learn from it. Even got offers to help me inworld. How cool is that? And as you say, so might someone later who needs info on sound source scripts. If they can find it that is. I do have a problem in this Forum with the Search function; I always try to search for an earlier posting, if I have a question, but have never ever been able to find one, even though I know my silly question must have been asked before. It's just not easy to find prior questions through Search.

From: Treasure Ballinger It's just not easy to find prior questions through Search. I know, I hate searching for info here, and if you use 3 letter words it says too short for search (I think it is 3 letter) I find many many of the things posted here very helpful, and I do hope they keep the forums open, I would hate to see them close I would rather see them come in and moderate with a stern hand, than see them close it down. (I have a feeling, that if they close them, many will migrate over to xstreetsl, and use those forums, which when you think about it, is kinda strange that they still have them, being it is now owned by LL) how long before they close the general discussions over there and replace their forums with the "answers" thing...

From: Oryx Tempel Do you guys mind if I quote you in a Notecard that I'm writing up for Blue Linden's office hours today? regarding keeping the forums? I don't mind, feel free to quote me (although he might go running screaming if he knows it is from me ) Actually it might be a good idea to include who the quote is from, so that if he has questions about their opinion he knows who to contact.

From: Jackie Silverfall You may quote me freely. Also, with the exception of three people, all of the folks that I call friends come from the Cartel. How sad is that? Of course, one of the three outsiders *is* Arwen, so that's good enough for me
