I was minding my own business in a Portuguese speaking sim with a large shopping mall, when I began to get messages that the usual mechanism these places have was checking for copybots.

I had on a new shirt I made last weekend. It included a novelty print made from a circus poster. The pants are made from a photo heavily modified. The sandals were mine. Even my hair piece was my own creation.

The copy bot catcher started sending me mesages that it was verifying stolen content. I even got an email of that message. I was not AR'ed. No one has sent me a cease and desist letter. Should I even worry about this? Has th is ever happened to any one else?

Sounds like a useless scare tactic to me.

I'd be more curious about how it was able to send a message to your email account. Do you have your IMs sent to email?

There has never been a "copybot detector" that has done a bit of good. The seller of any such product, particularly the notorious "copybot protector", is scamming their customers and should be ARed for fraud.

"Copybot protection" is right up there with "Wireless network security" in the realm of amusing oxymorons. Especially when I get 8 scripted chat lines every 30 seconds saying "Copybot Protection 1.08.1 - Low Spam Version: !quit" (^_^)
