Trouble with Boots!

Is anybody else having trouble with their boots? I have tried several pairs of boots on and every one of them displays incorrectly. The boot/shoe base (as oppose to the attachments) shows up like pants. That is, they go all the way up to my waist. Anybody else seen this?

If you use an nVidia card, the drivers are probably the culprit...anything newer than the 175 series seems not to be playing well with SL.

Drivers

Indeed. I just upgraded my drivers yesterday. While you were posting that, I was rolling them back and rebooting. A quick rebake and TA-DA! All is well.

I'm also having this problem and it did start right after I updated my nvidia card.

I did find a work around for it on another forum...

advanced........rendering....... features....... and then click off palletized textures

you will need to do this at every log on and also change you shoes after you have done it.

Lets hope they fix this one soon!!!!

must not effect everyone, I updated to the 178 (sept 25th) drivers the other day on both computers I use for SL and have had no issues with boots or other graphic oddities.

one is a 9600GT the other a 8800GT nvidia graphic card.

Someone across the street was saying that nVidia just released another driver update and the palletized textures workaround doesn't work for those.

/me grunts

i just got me a brand new nVidia 9600GT only to find out that there is a pending JIRA Issue about the drivers since june (sic!) http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7957

Thanks LL.

PS: Using the 175.19 makes it work BUT i wait for the next viewer when we get that drivers outdated message and being locked out or having our socks up to our asses.

*breathes a sigh of relief. For aminute I thought it was another "bot" thread insstead of a "boot" thread.

Boot trouble possible solution
10-16-2008 10:38
A couple of my customers have had trouble like this, because of the graphics card issue. and what I ended up doing was the make the bases from transparent texture instead of boot fabric. of course this will only work where they are underneath prim boots and not those painted on the legs. If the bases are modify find a transparent texture and edit them in appearance, or if no mod, you can always make your own bases and ajust the height whilst wearing to get it right. May take a bit of doing but very possible for a novice. A small solution until it is fixed as an issue :))

Thoughtful, but this issue doesn't impact only boots--pants, tops, just about any item can bleed on the skin because of the problem with the newest Nvidia drivers. And unchecking palletized textures didn't work for me either--I had to go back to the 175.51 driver.
