whenever i try to instant message someone, the window doesn't come up. i've looked in the communications and text areas,but not seeing anything to adjust. can someone plz help me with this? thank you

That should automatically open a window to instant message your friend. good luck and welcome to the forums |

hi i got a query with IM's that someone can probably answer.
I wanted to leave an IM every day for my sl gf to read when
she came back off her two week hols aaawwwww, however she
didn't get most of them and is a little bit disappointed.... I heard
somewhere that IM's are capped and only last a certain amount of
time? does anyone know for how long? This might sabe my bacon lol!

I don't think it's how *long* they've been around, but how *many* have been received--and that number is quite low. I'm not sure if it's a constant, but I've sometimes only gotten a half-dozen or so IMs, the rest lost in-world--but if one turns on the preference for sending IMs to email, they'll all (usually) make it through there... well, AFAIK, anyway.  (Damn! Maybe that's how I missed those final delivery instructions from my Nigerian associate!) |

@drake, when you try to IM someone does *any* window come up? I find it annoying some of the windows which are grouped together for no apparent reason. If you get a groups window for example, that is the all purpose "communications" window. There are tabs across the BOTTOM for groups/local/chat and any IM's you have active.
@Dog, the IM goes to email while away features is notoriously unreliable. Sorry but if she got "some" messages the rest prolly went into a black hole.
