So, I'm configuring one of the reworked Timeless Prototype doors, and it just won't work. We all (well, builders at least) know how obstinate those scripts can be. But no matter what I did--rename, restart, recompile, rebuild. These damn doors wouldn't cooperate.

So after a half hour or so of pulling my hair out, even tho I'm standing right next to it, I decide to shout at the door.

Worked like a charm. Twenty seconds later, the door is configured. A minute and a half and the other four are all done.

I've used this same script in other places, and it worked fine. And a little later when I decided to try a different flavor TD script on the same door, I had the same issue.

Anyone ever see anything like that before?

(Yeah, I know it's related to scripting/building, but I'm not looking for advice. Just curious.)

I've never used them, actually. But it sounds like the listener is more than 20m away.

I've used them MANY times, and I'm quite used to their persnickety ways. As it happens, I was standing RIGHT NEXT to the door. And as it was a 10m cut and hollowed prim, I happened to be standing inside it's bounding box.

Ahhhh hollowed prim, it was waiting for the echo.

Someone else posted today they are having problems with this script too, on the scripting forums, so probably just a bad SL day?

Try WD-40 on the hinges.

Linked objects listen from the root prim. Sounds like the root is more than 20 meters from the door. :)

What would be weirder, yelling at the doors in RL? "Configure damnit!"

Timeless Prototype is the person who wrote that particular door script.

And yes, it's very cool--if you're into that sort of thing.

BTW, Dariens answer about the distant root prim makes the most sense, since the the root prim IS about 30m away.

What does it do?

It's a open source configurable door script, it needs to be linked. It can be a complete pain to set up sometimes, but once it's set up or you understand it, it's bloody good. It's lockable too.

There are a few versions of this door. Search in Script Tips forum.

I use the multi-user lockable door script and that's always been ridiculously easy to use.
