If I rent a shop at a mall or rent a piece of land, is there a way for me to add my shop to "search?" It looks like only an entire parcel can be added to search and then only by the parcel owner and only once per parcel. Wondering what people who rent mall space do with regards to search.

I would guess that anyone with a parcel that has shops on it would set the parcel to Search. Also, you can add it to your Picks in your Profile and set your Profile to Search.

I think you completely misunderstood me. Let's say I own a mall. I rent out 5 shops in it, but those 5 shops are not broken down into sub parcels. The question I have, is how can a renter of one of those shops get his shop to show up? And, as far as I know, you can't add a shop to picks, just a parcel.

But you can modify the words (and picture) associated with any Pick in your Profile. And when I search, I get people's Profile Picks that contain the words that I searched on.
Also, ask the Mall owner to add your store name to the Parcel Description.

Check whether you can have direct tp's to your shop too, even if the mall owner lists your shop in the parcel name, if people are landing at someone else's shop it can get a little frustrating.
Some malls, where they rent bigger spaces, allow you to have your own parcel.

The question I have, is how can a renter of one of those shops get his shop to show up? Even if you can't get the parcel description altered, you can still control how your objects appear. That will at least make them findable. So include your brand name in the item names or descriptions. From: someone And, as far as I know, you can't add a shop to picks, just a parcel. Right but you can mention the shop in the pick. You won't get the goodness of a standalone parcel where it automatically gets filled in though.

If you are a mall owner, consider subdividing your land into parcels for each shop owner.
We do this, and as part of the package, we list the parcels in Search for the shop owners, with the name of the shop and its own landmark/arrival point.

You can put your mall in classified ad. When I am looking for something, in general I search in "classified". Is rare I search in "Places" and found what I am looking for.
