Lovely hair from Cake, huge long swinging braids, love 'em, just wonderful, but the bit that actually sits on my head is burying me completely. Is there a way to shrink just the head-cap part of it, or do I have to make my head bigger to fit the wig? PS I did use the edit to the best of my very poor ability to make it smaller in all directions round my head, to no avail.

Can you 'edit linked parts?' It's a check box in the General tab of the Edit window. Check that, then left click on just the skull piece; should be able to shrink it with the Stretch/Shrink boxes.

Remember to take a copy before you edit - best be on the safe side
![]() [From which you can gather that I have often messed up doing this.] Editing hair to fit is a delicate operation and takes a bit of practice. You need to experiment. Tiny little adjustments can make all the difference and it is sometimes easier to make a small adjustment to your avatar head size or shape to better fit the hair than it is to edit the hair.. _____________________

also whenyou do edit linked parts remember to have the stretch both sides check box checked
this will keep the prim aligned where it is at I soooo wish that we could edit things on other people (with their permission of course) there are soo many folks I know, that hate hate hate adjusting prims, and I actually enjoy it so many times I wish I could have just done it for someone (I would hire myself out as a prim adjuster hehe) _____________________

Would it not work if hair wearer has you on their frinds list with "modify my objects" enabled?
That way you could edit any other prim they own. Why not the hair too? Rhaorth, IM me inworld if you wish to try this some time. I'll be your crash test dummy. I'll even put on some hair. _____________________

gess drivin is not in world or not checking forums hehe
I am pretty sure though that even if someone has granted you permission to modify, you still can not modify attached prims on their avatar _____________________

you wouldn nessesarily have to wear it to be able to djust it to fit... just rez it and then let the person play.... i mean it doens thave to be attacted to make it the right size...i mean obviously when they er attach they may have to move it and roatate it a bit... but thats the easy bit... it is the stretching that is hard to get right

It used to be that if a person stood on a pose stand and then dropped and item..granted you perms..and you made the item fit on their head..or pelvis..that once they picked that item back up and clicked "attach to" and chose the respective area where the item was..that it would attach the way it was rezzed in world before it was picked up.
Maybe I'm mising a step there..are they supposed to "attach to" when the item is still rezzed inworld before they pick it up to inventory? ~Lana _____________________

Rhaorth could use it in hir attachment-adjuster career. Even if you couldn't set the attachment offset this way, it'd be useful to sort out sizing and editing those odd rogue prims that don't work with a particular av. I sometimes get a problem with hair where I find an odd curl exiting via my eyeball, and no amount of re-sizing deals with it. Going down to individual prim level & repositioning/resizing/deleting the offending lock is sometimes the only way to sort it out. Deira's post applies big-time to this... I've made a folder of 'Hair - unmodded' and I'm trying to get into the habit of sticking a copy of any hair in there as soon as I buy it. _____________________

The earlier posts citing that you can't mod someone else's attachments while they wear them is correct.
What you do is have them get on a pose stand; and then detach the attachment; then drop the item on the ground beside themselves, from their inventory. This will make a COPY of the item, assuming it is copyable. The person making the modifications, who has mod rights, then can move the part manually into position, make adjustments, and then change the name of the item to indicate what it was modded for. As an example, "Elise Hair - Black, Shiny - Head size 43". The owner then takes the attachment back into inventory, wears it, and adjusts the position again to get it right. In most cases, it should 'remember' which attachment point the original used, and shouldn't take too much effort to reposition. At worst, they may need to check where the old one attached by trying on an unmodified copy, and then detach that and use the "attach to" right click choice in inventory to select the same point. Then position and rotate as needed to fit. _____________________
