There are over 250 Female contestants at SL Miss World as compared to just 13 Male contestants for SL Mister World @ SecondAvatar.com !
This may not be the right means to measure the gender popularity in SL but one must admit a lack of interest in pageants from the Male avatars.
So, are there only a handful Male Models ? Where are they? Want to know more on whether Residents want to participate in pageants such as SL Mister World ?
Regards;

There's a lot fewer really good looking skins, hair or clothes for male avatars. So there's a lot fewer "good looking males". And in general, "beauty pageants" don't tend to appeal to males. When I read the few posts that I noticed about that pageant, I didn't even notice there was a male category. I assumed it was all female.

Not really sure if there are fewer skins for men...I ve seen a lot of them around ....although I agree to some extent with the statement that "beauty pageants" dont tend to appeal to males...but I am trying to figure out what can change that... Ohh btw SLMrWorld has a top menu link on SecondAvatar.com Thanks Ceera

Considering how many men play female avatars, I think they appeal to men far more than you think. But the quality of stuff out there is just not as prevalent, and not widely known.

I am not sure question particularly matters.
Since the truth is there are far too many of BOTH sexes who want to be models.
If you are willing to actually PAY people to model for you - put an ad in.
Not only will they beat a path to your door, they will bash it down.

First, there are more females then males. Lot's more.
Second, females tend to look better for a few reasons. They have more clothes then males to choose from and they take pride in the way they look. They always want to look their best and many do. Which is a good thing.
Where as males we have a much smaller population. Many of these males look and are slobs. They don't change their clothes or try to look good like females do or as well as other guys either. They have this raggedy appearance and then on top of this they have the audacity to try to hit on women.
In these forums you have males who had admitted they don't change their clothes or just have one change of clothes. [sl imitating rl?] Maybe this is one reason why the difference in size between males and females entering events. You can't enter if you're a slob.

As I've found out in the last few days the clothes for men suck. And what's the big deal where mostly all male clothes are non mod. What's the reason behind this? You hear all this talk about rl and making sl like rl and then they turn around and make clothes non mod. In rl you can adjust your clothes or don't they know this?

Ack. You have reminded me that I missed my photoshoot! Oh well. After Xmas it is then, when the photographer gets back There is such a thing as the male peacock though Ricardo. They'd be the ones sometimes winning the competitions

SecondAvatar.com is a suspended domain with it's host company...
The gender imbalance thing is weeeeeird. I mean: I know I'm weird, and even I think it's weird. So it's weird.

Kind of a vicious cycle: even the most expensive men's clothes pretty much suck; since there's nothing worth buying, men don't shop; since they don't shop, there's no market for men's clothes; since there's no market, men's clothes pretty much suck. Really makes you wanna be a male model, right?

Really makes you wanna be a male model, right? Men do shop. I shop more then many females here. I have a very large inventory of clothes, hundreds of pants and tops as well as shoes and jewelry. I have clothes for over a year back I still haven't worn as do many people. I buy them then I don't wear them. But the large majority of these clothes are from before. Now, I'm lucky if I see something I like. I go agree that there's nothing of clothing for men to shop NOW-A-DAYS. Back then you would find nice looking stuff to wear unlike now. Now it's the opposite, the clothes are just not as nice. Plus now they make most of the clothes non-modifiable which ties your hands on making any changes you like and need. Back then I would walk into a shop and come out with eight or more outfits or lone pieces of clothing. Now, forget about it. I'd be lucky if I got one piece out of several shops. On pants these vendors think all men like wearing butt-huggers. Why not make all clothes modifiable so people can change them to fit the way they like. Women have problems too with skirts and dresses. If they have some butt they need to adjust them to fit properly but can not if they're not mod. Now they have to call the vendor and waste time going thru' the process of getting an exchange and this is if they can as many vendors won't even respond. I would like to hear/see what reasonable explanation they have for making clothes non modifiable. Other then they not wanting to, I don't see any logical reason.. It used to be the top shops didn't restrict customers from adjusting their clothes. But even that seems to be fading.

How is this any different from RL? Aren't there more real-life beauty pageants for women and girls than there are for men?

AOs for men are also pretty bad in general, unless you want to look like a macho idiot. I was trying to outfit my alt recently; I may have to make my own animations. From: Wildefire Walcott How is this any different from RL? Aren't there more real-life beauty pageants for women and girls than there are for men? This is probably the main reason though. Much as it is nice to pretend that SL is a brave new world, it clearly isn't.

It is true that most males in SL dont change their cloths often, but the same for females. Even in RL (as a guy) - i have some cloths that are the same (more then one set) for work or other. but i wash them often, so just cuz in Sl you dont chage your cloths, doesnt mean you dont wash em. (i have 3 inuyasha AV costumes, that look alot alike (some are more real) but i dont always change outa it. Thats what SL is about, being someone for awile, then changing - ill stay a ninja rogue for a few weeks, and only be a sexy skater-boi for a few hours : thats the SL we live.

Update ~ SecondAvatar.com site maintenance
12-25-2007 06:16
Just a quick notice: The original post mentioned about SL MISTER World @ SecondAvatar.com The site will be having a few fixes this holidays with HostGator. So check back soon if any of the Male avatars want to register for the SL Mister World ! Cristalle Karami From: someone Considering how many men play female avatars, I think they appeal to men far more than you think. Thats so true. And why not? I could be a WereWolf in SL. I think its time for females to play male avatar and show what mens fashion could be! Wildefire Walcott From: someone How is this any different from RL? Aren't there more real-life beauty pageants for women and girls than there are for men? This ratio can be changed in SecondLife if not in Real World ! Ricardo Harris From: someone On pants these vendors think all men like wearing butt-huggers. Why not make all clothes modifiable so people can change them to fit the way they like. I agree. You should check out the Sims fashion site on Yahoo. Mens fashion can be pretty good. Hope to see more Male avatars register for SL Mister World. Regards, SecondAvatar.com/MastDeal
