I just looked at the lindendollar price in-world.. and it seems like its exactly the same before VAT was introduced.. does this mean its not yet in effect? Is it just not displaying the VAT and will it take the amount + VAT from your Credit Card?

Anything that you pay Linden Lab for will have VAT applied. This includes: * Premium account registration * Purchases from the Land Store * Land use fees (tier) * Private Region fees * Land auctions What are the items for which Linden Lab doesn't charge VAT? Transactions in L$ between individual Residents are not subject to VAT. http://secondlife.com/corporate/vat.php The Lindex is actually a method for Residents to sell and buy Lindens from each other, not Linden Lab. _____________________

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

i was talking about buying L$ from LL inworld using that creepy round L$ buy button next to your L$ balance. So was I. The way the Lindex works is, someone in-world decides to cash out, so they sell their Lindens to the exchange....then you come along and buy them. The Lindex only facilitates a transfer. LL does take a fee for doing this, which I suppose could conceivably be taxable, but you're actually buying the Linden dollars from other Residents. Walker, I really don't know how the VAT works, but it appears LL is regarding Lindex transactions as non-taxable at the moment. _____________________

Is that the case when you buy at market rate? I thought if you bought at market, you bought from Supply Linden.

Gee. Do you think a blog post might be a cunning idea? Nothing so far. Two techy blog posts. But not even Reuters seems to have picked up the tax hike...
