Is there a way to back up all my SL items and data?

Hi everyone, i have been reading up on this and I am getting worried.

I need to re format my hard drive and do a clean install of windows, i am currently backing things up to a second hard drive.
How do i save/back-up my SL stuff, and all of my inventory?

Is there a way?

Your inventory is on LL's server, not on your local machine.

I use to think we could have extra protection by creating land base server storage in prims in content tab.
Most of time things that I have copy rights or full persmissions that I put inside prims storage devices aka in content tab or on notecard files,etc stay there as back ups.
Yet sometimes when sl is really really screwed up even things on land disappear or get return to lost and found.
There no real way to take things except textures outside of LL servers.
I have discovered eventually things do show up if you can locate the file names. Issue is tracking or keeping track of file names.
There was a program that someone made supposively that did something similar but I never I got it to work. It supposively organized your inventory outside of SL.
The best bet is copy file names somewhere outside of SL or somewhere like in virtual file cabinet inworld to remind you after your inventory has rezzed to locate items.
But if its gone to lost and found then often file names change sometimes to object which often is source of things getting lost.

But does this mean i can do a re-format and re-install of my OS and i won't lose anything?? i'd rather buy a new hard rive then lose all the items and other inventory stuff, the hard drive would be cheaper!

so it will be safe to do a reinstall???

See the first reply in this thread. None of your SL stuff is on your hard drive, it is all on SL servers and it will still be there after you reformat.
