New RAW file Program: beta testers wanted

A new SIM terraforming tool is currently under development, and I need 12 beta testers.

The tool is called SimScape and is currently at version 0.3.

The full list of its specifications is still pretty much TBC, but the following list should be close. Those with a * are already available.

Module 1
a) Input almost all popular graphic formats, including BMP, GIF, ICO, JPEG, JPEG 2000, PCX, PNG, PSD, TIF, WMF, WBMP, TGA, PGX, RAS, PNM image files.*

b) The image is displayed in an image viewer and can then be converted to a single channel heightfield 8-bit greyscale RAW file format.*

c) The image can be rotated and flipped either horizontally or vertically.*

d) The image can be sent to a printer.

e) The height multiplication factor can be set (with a detailed description of how to calculate factors in the help file), along with water height, and all parcel permissions.*

f) Outputs file in either BMP*, single channel (heightfield) RAW file*, and full 13 channel Second Life RAW file format.

g) Comprehensive description of the SL RAW file format in the help file.*


Module 2
a) 3D view of heightfield

b) Terrain editing tools for raising, lowering, levelling, smoothing, roughening and baking.

c) Anything else you can think of, providing it is do-able, and can be done in 1 week.

The software is a Windows application, written in Visual Basic.

To be a beta tester you will need to have the following hardware and software:

Almost any hardware configuration for Module 1, but a good graphics card capable of rendering and manipulation 3D images in real time (but don't ask ME if your graphics card is capable or not). Windows XP operating system, and NET Framwork 3.0 (free to download for the MS website).

You must also have at least 4 hours available each week, for the next 4-5 weeks.

I need 12 testers, so the first 9 get it that can confirm the requirements above. 3 places are reserved for people who have a new private island sim, and who have not yet started terraforming. If you do not receive an IM back within 24 hours it means that the 12 positions have been taken.

Slightly OT perhaps bordering on Trolling......It probably took you all of 5 minutes to write that announcement. Too bad a developer who shall remain nameless, didn't bother to do the same when they released their Beta, a lot of bad feelins may have beem avoided.

I know this is an old thread, but I wonder if there was actually a result from this beta test?1 O was the project cancelled? I am looking for a good tool to do some treeaforming, and didn't have found a good one so far!

I'll have to look this up when I get home, if you have it running etc - really interested in RAW file creation.
