Hi all,
Some of my pants rez with an inverted v shape cut out on the bottom hem of the right leg (only the right leg) from time to time. Rebake, taking off and puting back on etc.. does not help.
Can any one explain why this occurs, and is there some sort of remedy? This is a silly issue to be sure, but one that has always been puzzling to me.

It's a glitch in the rendering. Sometimes slightly adjusting the pants leg length helps. Most of the time you only see this when the texture isn't fully rendered yet.

I only see this when I wear long pants. I recommend going to a nice empty sim and waiting for the pants textures to load completely. I like to buy the pants with prim legs.

Yes, I have some jeans with prim legs that I wear with boots (bottoms only). I never got good results with trying to edit pants for this sort of fashion. I guess I'll climb in my boat and head out to a remote spot to check out that empty sim idea. There are a lot of protected oceans (some with Linden islands and builds) just south of my dock.

I've never seen it on just ONE leg... but it sounds suspiciously similar to the nVidia graphics driver problem that keeps cropping up. *IF* you have an nVidia graphic card and your driver version is higher than 175.19, then there are 3 possible solutions you can try: 1) Turn off "palletized textures" (Ctrl-Alt-F7), and then rebake. SL won't remember the setting so you will need to do it each login. 2) Install the SL Release Candidate viewer 1.22, in which the problem is supposedly fixed (you can install it in a separate folder so that you can switch back if you don't like it). 3) Uninstall your driver and install 175.19 driver. If you don't have an nVidia card, then please post your OS, system specs, and what version of SL you are running.

it is annoying when you buy a nice pair of pants and you find out it has the dreaded jagged edged bottom. as a previous poster said, it's a rendering issue when the designer leaves an alpha portion really close to the border of their texture template. maybe tell the designer about this little trick on how they might avoid this in the future: http://www.slmen.com/avoiding-the-jagged-pants-bottom-bug/

I prefer boots. So designers: Make your pants with an underwear layer option, or make them modifiable so they can be shortened for use under boots! kthxbai

I like a nice stove pipe with sandals... but with boots we need to be able to narrow and shorten. I try to avoid stuff that isn't mod/copy. Take last night, my boots, hair and earrings were eaten by an asset server stumble, they were luckily all copy items. A lesson I learned from this was always make sure to wear non prim underwear. Also Robin has a nice tintable sock thing that keeps our pants from being a diff color inside the cuff and gets rid of a lot of the jagged prob.

well it's better than the glitch where you thought your pants were on or had rezzed.. i used to hate when people would not say something for like 20 minutes of walking around the club.
