You know what I'm talking about, too... the camera going absolutely bananas when you're standing still, and attempting to nauseate you.

I'd read there was a way to fix it, but I don't remember how. could someone enlighten me? I ask 'cause this is pissing me off to no end.

The real problem is on the server side, they have been having a tough time taming the default cam positions under Havok 4.

See http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/User:Andrew_Linden/Office_Hours/2008_08_12 at 11:32 for some discussion.

You can play with the camera options under the preferences, but don't expect a complete cure. (a lower camera smoothing can help with the turning nausea though.) There are lots of free follow cam scripts available in world, I use one of those when things get too nauseating.

ETA: I notice in the JIRA that Andrew found a way to fix it, should be in server 1.25, yay!

I experience that few times a week and I am using only the mandatory one or around that version not 1.20.
You mean it still does that there too?

It must be on their end. I get it sometimes as well, and I'm using 18.5.3. I get bouncing and uncontrolled zooming sometimes.

if you mean the one where it zooms in and out, that is because there is something behind you which causes your cam to try to focus in properly then gets confused and goes nuts

I hate it with a passion

so am always fidgeting trying to stand where it will not do that

I get it too... I think 'Camera Humping' is a perfect description.

Make sure you keep the lens cap on... safe sex and all....

I think they fixed a few of the camera bugs with the 1.21 beta release - I tried it today and could not duplicate the JIRA I submitted http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7126 and I also noticed that the loss of control problem when panning around inside a hollow prim seems to be gone as well. Yay for sure!

If it's on your parcel and it happens repeatedly in the same area, find out which object is causing it. If you make it phantom, that will solve it.

When I was building my store, I had that problem until I made the shelving units phantom. I didn't want people to be able to walk through the shelves, so for each unit, I unlinked the bottom shelf and left it non-phantom. The bottom shelf is low enough that it doesn't make the view go out of control, but it's high enough to serve as a barrier.

Some progress, some regression there :/ On the ground, alt-arrow camming has a weird exaggerated eccentric orbit now, it carries over into taking turns near walls too.
