I can't figure out what happened. My SL sound is gone. Everything else related to sound on my computer works fine. When I start SL, I get no sound even though all the audio settings are maxed. Funny thing too, when SL is running, my system sound goes off for everything. SL off -> sound. SL on -> no sound for the whole computer, not just SL.
Any ideas?

I was going to suggest taking a look at your windows toobar..sometimes SL will Mute my speakers for some unknown reason..but since you can hear sound outside of SL i guess thats not it.  ~Lana |

On the interface I am using at the moment there is a "Master Mute" icon, the speaker next to the volume slider.

i used to hate when my nephew would come over and use my computer..he had these little ipod headphones he would plug in..i swear i would tear my computer apart looking through all my soundcard settings and everything..then relog and relog and relog in and out of sl over and over until i would get so frustrated sit back in my chair thinking..omg my sound card is fianlly dead..then look around the room wondering if i have a spare..then seem them..those freaking headphones hooked up to the headphone jack in my speakers lol
i used to yell at him so loud for touchng my computer lol

It is not completely impossible that you might benefit from uninstalling your sound card driver and reinstalling it, or upgrading it.

Exactly what version of SL are you using?
What kind of sound card do you have?
Do you have the same problem using a different version of SL such as RC 1.19.1 or the Beta grid version?

Few things you can try,,,

Toggle your sound switch sometimes helps, or clear your network cache then go up to Client at the top tool bar, go down to Clear Group Chat Cache, about the 7th down, hit that and clear that and then re-log, if nothing toggle the sound switch again.
