Accessing SL from Mainland China

Hi all,

I am working with someone in SL who is planning a trip to Mainland China. She was worried that she might not have access from there.

Has anyone been there...done that..lol.

Are there any special requirements or problems?

The Lindens think there should be no problem, but experienced users are always the best resource.

I found a website that tracks what is and is not blocked in Mainland China.

Update (2009.06.08): Twitter is now accessible on the mainland.
Update: It seems that photo sharing website Flickr.com has been blocked.

Update 2: Bing.com (the new Microsoft search engine) is gone too, probably for autoplaying Youtube videos when you put your mouse over them.

Update 3: Live.com and Hotmail.com have gone under. But MSN messenger seems fine.

Blogspot and Youtube remain blocked.

Update 03.06.09: Hotmail.com is back, but Live.com is still be having problems loading.

I have some Chinese friends and acquaintances. They seem to access SL all right.

The Twitter site fusses a lot about Twitter and Gmail and some others...but SL doesn't come up...so ...maybe it's still usable from there.

Ansche Chung was born in China, worked in Germany, and incorporated her virtual worlds development company in Hubei, China, where she has a considerable staff of content developers doing work in at least Second Life and IMVU.

Anshe Chung is a native Chinese, married to a German. They have their home in Germany, but their software company is based in China, where they work a lot of the time.

Rock
