I'm very new and am trying to find free skins & clothes & shapes but everything I find is for the girls.

My avatar is fresh from orientation island and is very clunky.

can someone advise where I can find some free male stuff ??

Oxy,
Check out the following weblog - there's also an inworld group you can join and get notification of men's freebies.

Both of the above sound like good suggestions.

The Free Dove mostly has stuff for ladies, but there is a men's section and it's nice stuff.

A store called Annde's Designs (I think that's the spelling) offers a monthly men's and women's freebie outfit.

Enkythings had some male skins for 1L.

Oh! And at least a few months ago Talisman had teemed up with the FabFree folks to open a small freebie store and they had some stuff for guys.

And I think NCI may have a bundle of men's clothes on their freebie wall.

I'm supposed to be working on other stuff, but if I get in-world later on I'll see if I have any guys' stuff, or at least some landmarks.

I think you will have to put money into your man if you want him to look good.

I tried recently to make a male avatar, and started off with freebies. It was a real chore finding stuff, and in the end he was so creepy looking!

Maybe I'm too picky... in the end I had to ask good-looking guys where they shopped and went there.

Even so, the male avatars, even the ones you can buy, tend to be too bulked up and have very closed, intimidating faces. I bought a nice shape and skin, and then I had to make him smile a little... but it looked like a leer.

In the end, I got a huge headache from the experience, and I really feel sorry for you guys. The selection for women is so much better.

Still... I do see guys that look good. Normal-looking bodies, nice hair, interesting clothes...

So, it can be done.

Sarah Nerd's for certain!

Also, head over to Alphamale. They have a freebie table with excellent freebie jeans.

Another decent blog is http://www.second-man.com

It features freebies regularly.

If I think of anywhere else, I'll pass it on.

Do a search for NCI Beach

New Citizens Incorporated have an awesome wall of freebies including men's skins and clothing.

Calla has some free stuff for male and female avatars in a package called "Jack in a Box". The box contains shape, skin, hair, and clothes... might not be "you", but it will definitely help to get you started.

Search for Calla under Places, when you get there use the sign to TP directly to the free and discount area (in the attic). Look for the big round boxes.

Freebie hunting can be a full time pastime in itself and can be quite fun, especially if you have a good sense of humor, as you will find some really bizarre things. :D

Maschienenwerk have a lot of male freebies:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Buffett%20Island/215/249/23

Nooby Doo's is a new place put together by the ladies at Style Your Destiny. You'll find a lot of male stuff there:

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Granymyr/195/138/28

This post is a good starter for finding stuff, too:

http://sl4nowt.wordpress.com/2008/05/29/the-fast-track-guide-to-non-newbieness-for-boys-1-of-3/

Also, check the two male freebie blogs already mentioned here (Free For Men, and Free Finds For Men) and join the inworld group for the latter.

ETA: Just inside the lobby at Dawn Designs there's a good male newbie kit (full avatar). Just click the board to your right and join the group, then with group tag active, click the image on the left wall to get the full avatar kit. (I don't suggest dragging this folder onto yourself to get changed, as it contains ALL the bits a bloke needs, and you don't want to start your SLife in classic male n00b way, with your willy hanging out...). There's also other male group gifts dotted around, which you need the group tag active for:

Skell is practicing an exemplary level of taste and restraint. In his answer (as usual) he shunned self-promotion, when in fact he offers in his store an OUTSTANDING freebie pack of items for the male Avatar. It contains much of the most tasteful/useful of the full-perm freebie clothing items and skins available in addition to a couple of good original shapes, several handy LMs and helpful notecards as well.

Go to Jindalrae 29,20,444 and you'll be standing right next to the package. Getcha some. :) While you are there have a look at his skyboxes and furniture. They are highly recommended - very well done and sold WAY too cheaply.

Damnit Skell, an alt or 2 of mine have in the past expressed appreciation for your work directly to either you or your partner, but it's time someone bragged you up a bit in a more public fashion.

People, the skyboxes are handsome and cheap. Everything in the place is original, great quality, and a REAL bargain.

OP - also go to any NCI location, either a main hub or 1 of their plentiful infonodes, find the freebie wall and get the men's jeans and the "Business suit" if nothing else.

Also, Lisette had good advice. The Gnubie Store in Powder Mill does NOT have the same ol' junk. It showcases the REAL designers in SL who offer tases of their wares here in hopes that you will come looking for more. Nothing in the store costs more than $1L, many items are free. One famous name offers a set of 3 (4?) men's jeans there for $1L which sells for $350 in their main store. Probably other such comparisons exist but I noticed that one specifically.

Explore! Enjoy!

We got a couple of freebs at Devilfish Acolytes Corner for guys, if you wander the mall nearby there's some freebs in the stores too (its a mens mall).

The Vitamen store at the mall has some cool shorts for this month, nicely detailed on the upper floor and Devilfish Gear just put a winter hat in their subscribe-o-matic.
We've got a store called Jugg Tathams at the mall which has a sale on formal wear at the moment, some really nice stuff for under 40L :-)

Sarah Nerds is a good one, tonnes of freebs there.

You might wanna also check out some of the freebie groups, I'd recommend Lucky Kitty Crew, they search out top freebs, cheapies and cool places to visit, a lot is for women but they cater to the guys in group too, no reseller stuff there, the lass who runs it works hard to find well designed, useful freebies, stuff you'd actually wear, lol.

I believe there's a new group called 'Make Him Over' especially for male newbies to find hot free items too, so take a look for that one.

We're used to being treated as second class citizens . . .

When I read the title of the thread, I thought, "Oh no...the Escort Union is going to really come down on you."

Lots tamer than I expected.

Silent Sparrow and Bare Rose have a few freebies for guys. The "Sweeney" outfit in the Silent Sparrow newbie box (you have to be 30 days old or less) is particularly nice.

Heh - I keep reading it as "My skirt is too short." I didn't know that could happen in SL...
