I just want to see what everyone's thoughts are if we are ever able to auction off our own land.
Personally, I would like to have it possible because it would allow people to bid what they think is a reasonable price to them. It also serves as a way to get rid of land bots, due to the fact that the reason they exist is to sell it over again. The current way to buy and sell land should still be available.

From: Gay Flatley if we are ever able to auction off our own land. Didn't we used to have that already? --- You might want to stop by Jack's office hours on Wednesday as well to ask on the progress: From: someone Jack Linden: we have discussed the idea of letting residents auction their land
(resident): Any chance of ever having resident to resident auctions? Jack Linden: yes Jack Linden: we are talking about that

From: Gay Flatley Do you know what his office hours are off-hand? Every Wednesday from 1-2pm SLT on the Linden Estate Services sim. When you rez at the telehub, walk into the building and turn left and then practice your SL coordination skills walking up those stairs. If you make it to the top without falling down, you're worthy to attend . Jack's office is the one in front of you at the top of the stairs (I think anyway you should see people there already at 1pm and his name is on the window in case I'm wrong ). I'd offer to ask the questions you have for you if you can't make that time, but I won't be able to attend next week most likely .

I'd like to see auctions using the RL process, the time is announced on a Saturday or Sunday and all avatars interested turn up and bid on it to an auctioneer on site

I think it's a great option, but I don't think it should totally replace current land sales options. My primary problem with moving completely to an auction system would be the disruption to land valuation in SL. LL wouldn't be able to get a handle on land prices if auctions totally replaced resident to resident land sales, and they have said over and over again that this is their goal. In short, it would muck up their metrics, and they wouldn't know when it is time to add new mainland sims for the expansion of SL. I already know of 2 compulsive gamblers who bid on auction land in SL as a fix to their habit, and often wind up overpaying, just for the high of winning the auction. If land sales moved to auction without a secondary system, you would have some parcels auctioned at outragiously inflated prices, while at the same time, have parcels, whose subject line didn't draw enough interest, that get seriously undervalued. It would be chaos.
However, that said, I think the option of auctioning should exist for residents. This would limit number of auctions, while still keeping land value measurable and relatively stable.

From: Ciaran Laval Since when was my name (resident) ???? I generally blank out resident names, even if it's a copy/paste from public meetings. Nothing personal .
