HIyas Everyone, I want to be able to have my group members "Set Home" on my parcel (island). I am the only owner with no officers.. just members. I've made the appropriate selection for "Set Home" in the group for everyone. Now, before I deed the land to group, I need to know what else happens when the land is deeded. Can anyone steer me to info on this please? Thanx

Can anyone steer me to info on this please? Thanx Hi Zena, The knowledgebase is fairly comprehensive in it's information regarding deeding land to a group so i'd do a search on the Support page on the website. You can use the Support link at the top of the website window or hit F1 in world and it will open the Support Portal for you. One thing I would suggest you understand before deeding is: Know your roles and what abilities you have set for them. A good example is the Accounting section. Anyone in a role with this checked will have to pay any money owed by the group (usually land listings for the Search) and receive any money that comes into the group (things such as land sales etc). Both are divided equally among those with this option checked. It's good practice to remove all but the basic abilities in the everyone role and modify any other roles to suit the purpose of that role. Oh, one more thing to understand when deeding. It's the same as transferring your land to another avatar, you are no longer the owner of the land, the group is. Even though you are the only owner in the group, the land no longer considers you alone as it's owner. An example of this would be if you were to sell a portion of the land, the funds would not automatically be sent to your account but held for a period of time. Group dividends are distributed once every 24 hours, and as stated above, divided between all individuals that are in a role with the accounting abilities checked. (Hope this isn't too confusing but the knowledgebase will expand on what I've said) ~B

One thing I'd add which I don't think is really covered in the Knowledge Base is that, after land is deeded to group, certain scripted objects on the land may quit working until they're deeded to group, too. But deeding objects to group has side-effects, most notably, the deeded objects are *transfered* to the group, so next-owner permissions will take effect. So, you do *not* want to deed everything to group, but a few things like parcel prim counters, TVs, radios, and most security systems need to be owned by the entity that owns the parcel on which they operate.

Make sure you know and understand what permissions are set in the group roles, and make sure that you have at least yourself and one alt as owner and an officer in the group, so even if everyone else leaves, the group doesn't dissolve.
Make sure you un-check the +Pay Liabilities" role permission in the Everyone role. It is checked by default, and that means, among other things, that if you sell the deeded land, ALL the members would get an even split of the land sale profits! So a 100-member group that sells a parcel for L$10K gets L$100 each.
