I do.

But I can see loads of people screaming when they realise that until they hide their profile they might be QUITE visible to the world!

I had a shock when I tried looking up my own name. Not a big shock ... but it did put an evil smile on my face at all the people claiming voice is an invasion of their privacy.

/me braces myself :)

Still a bit early to tell but it's looking pretty sweet so far..

Listen up shop owners: I've been practicing typing "-camp -camping" all day long.

Some good things, but far more bad.

Public publishing of avatar profile info by default, unless you OPT OUT. And even if you explicitly UN-CHECK the box allowing your profile to be published to the Internet, it may get re-checked for you, and they take 1-3 days to realize you unchecked it, AND even after they acknowledge that you declined to be listed, they can still list your avatar name, avatar join date, and avatar payment status. (I unchecked mine as soon as it was possible, and yesterday had to uncheck it again for all my accounts.)

Public posting of ALL group listings, by default. Even if you have NEVER checked the "Publish on the web" checkbox for your group info. And with this new release, you only have two choices as a group owner. Hide the group from all forms of Search, or make it fully published to the Internet.

Even if you hide your own profile and group info, info about you in other people's profiles is still publicly searchable. Someone you don't even know could post absolutely slanderous things about you in their profile, and that info will be available on the Internet!

They at least did limit Object Search so the returned results are on the page for each parcel, and the search itself only shows one line per parcel. No flooding of the search results because they have thousands of 'for-sale' prim boxes in their store.

You can't truly hide your profile anyway, your name will always appear. I hope I'm allowed to send the associated spam with this feature to Jeska Linden.

It's way too early to tell whether this new search improves the search engine or not. One thing that I do thing LL deserve credit for is trying a new search feature. There are going to be some people who are delighted and others who are horrified.

Do items inside a vendor show up as being for sale? If they don't I'd imagine JEVN, Apez and Hippotech will be a bit miffed.

Nope. They won't show at all, by default.

IF you manually check the "Show in search" checkbox for your scripted vendor, then it should list the name and description fields from your vendor.

For JEVN Systems, the Name field is usually how you uniquely identify that vendor, so you can find its results in your sales reports. The Description field changes all the time, showing the last item that was displayed for sale.

So my vendor that has 25 clothing items in it may show a L$300 dress one day, and a L$50 hat the next. But never both. And the first thing it lists is the type of merchandise in the vendor, and the sim it is in, like "Ceera's Furniture - Calypso".

Anyone who sells from vendors, if they want all their inventory and prices available in Search, will have to set up a store location that does NOT use vendors, and instead sells onlt from prim boxes, one item per prim.

In sl, what has experience shown and taught us over new implemented workings added on by management?

Proceed with extreme caution or better yet, stay away at least until it's not an option whether to download or not.

I'm happy with it.

It let me see who was reselling my freebies for profit so i can go make them into bacon. It's a wonderful tool for freebie dealers to show who else is distributing their freebies. :D
