Help! How to report abuse when you don't know who the abuser is?

My Husband and I are in Hogback and Tofte sims and they are currently being spammed horribly by someone with an abusive script that spams images and it tries to animate your toon, hundreds of times, over and over and over. It is locking up the sims... making movement and even porting out of the area very difficult. Tried to use the "report abuse" window but it requires you to choose a name to report. However this script says it is from Wutwut Foggarty... whom doesn't exist. There are no Lindens online atm. I tried to turn off scripts/builds/etc on my land but I don't think it is originating from my land so it doesn't help.

Can you click on the source prim of the spam? If so you can abuse report from the prim as far as I know. I'll see if I can take a look.

No, cant even get close to it via mouse look. =( I think SL needs to start requiring freebie accounts to supply a credit card number to prevent this sort of spamming. Becareful, don't want you to get locked-up and stuck there too.

this one is especially nasty because of the constant animation requests. one thing that will help a little is to turn off particles in the tools menu.

wutwut existed a few minutes ago. If he doesn't now, it means the lindens are on the job.

If you get stuck in that attack, relogging in another sim does get you out of that. I went to one of the water sims like Sif and Quepple. The attack does not follow you there.

go to client>Disable camera restraints. Then use your camera controls to find one of the boxes that isn't moving around. Open a report form. Up at the top right is a button for reporting objects. Click on it and then on the box/object. It filled in the owner for me into the form. I saved screen shots with it. Then to send it and add a category you have to tp out, otherwise you can't get the drop down boxes to work. HTH's

I just checked out the report of the same problem in the Shiner sim and it is more of the same old image particles spam that features the ninja turtles.

The dialog box that asks to animate your avatar is made by an object that changes it's name to that of nearby avatars, so don't make the mistake of thinking that the first name shown on the dialog box has any necessary bearing on who is performing the attack.

I'm must be the nearest or only avatar around the object that's animation request spamming me now. It says: "'SuezanneC Baskerville;, and object owned by...." and I know that object named SuezanneC Baskerville is not me. I'm pretty sure of it, at least.

I don't have a good answer to this problem so far as making the troublemakers stop goes, other than to use the abuse report system and the live chat support if you have it, and of course one can IM lindens they know.

I just tried to use the Mental Mentor group chat and that's not working , possibly due to thousands or probably millions of backed up animation requests.

My my this keyboard focus problem in the latest release candidate while being animation request spammed is pretty crippling. I had to click in the text entry area hundreds of times just to type animation request spam.

So my suggestion in the absence of anything better is for folks that are just looking around second like to stay off the mainland altogeher for a while.

Some of the sites owned by big corporations are mostly empty all the time and make good backup hangout joints if you want to be in a low population area, or go to any of the private island sites.

Hmm, do these things get places like Caledon and Dreamland and Azure Islands and such?

If you're a mainland land owner in an afflicted area, I suppose your are basically just screwed so far as getting to enjoy what you paid for goes.

Maybe the management of the movie theater needs to make the customers with their cellphones ringing and the ones playing their iPods to either behave or leave, or else admit that they don't want to do what it takes to run a theater, give everyone refunds, and put up an out of business sign.

Appears to have stopped finally, all of a sudden all of the objects were gone.

Also, I do not believe that further ARs will be necessary. It virtually certain that the Lindens are already on it (and most likely pretty p***ed for having to deal with that crap on Sunday morning).

Suppose you were holding a competive event in SL, something time dependent - it would have been screwed.

The folks trying to establish a mood - like an SL wedding - screwed.

When I read the stuff on the Second Life Grid page where it describes Second Life as a platform for mission critical operations using field tested technology and see this sort of stuff it doesn't seem to fit together very well.
