Has there been a slight change to avatar graphics?

I noticed recently that when flying with my jetpack, my loose-fitting safety suit ripples in the wind when I move. I also noticed that the flares on my jeans flap about a little.

There also seems to be a slight change in the way the 'system' hair moves around the neck / head joint. I notice this because when I wear my hair in a ponytail or bun, the head part on my hair is done on the sliders rather than prims.

Have I just inadvertantly changed a setting somewhere or are these new features?

It's an option I can hardly read because in LL's asinine color scheme the grayed out options are nearly illegible, it's "Avatar Cloth" in the Preference / Graphics dialog.

Ah! That might explain it, although I don't remember changing any settings.

Actually....I noticed it too.

I never changed my settings....but after the last upgrade.....I noticed that first....the nVidia graphics issue was gone~ yay! And second.....my clothes rippled when I flew. Whoa. I never saw that effect before. I thought it was the jump suit that I had just purchased.....so assumed it had something to do with an alpha layer in the clothing......But then I noticed it with other things. Kinda funky.

The hair bit I haven't noticed yet. But then I don't use the avatar hair sliders.

Oh....another thing that has most definitely changed, and someone mentioned this not too long ago.....is the avatar mesh has become quite boxy looking around the chest area. I had read a comment about it.....and then noticed with my avatar (I make shapes so I pulled out a bunch to check the glitch) sure enough.....she has boobs that SpongeBob would probably admire now. :p

There's more than one color scheme, which are you referring to?

I can't say I've noticed that on myself - they look the same as they always have!

Yes, I've noticed some odd things about my av. Even the face seems a little boxier to me though my graphics are way up. I wonder if there is such a thing as slider drift

Also when I go into apperance mode an ugly light shines on me now, like a face light. When did this happen? Sometimes it's so bright I can't see what I'm doing.

Not sure how you managed to get that out of what I said, unless you clicked reply on my message instead of the one you were actually replying to...

Someone asked for a screenshot of the blockyness, and I can provide one. This was taken with all graphics settings to ultra, run on an Nvidia 9800 GT card, so it should decidedly NOT look this way:

Hips and cheek lines are also a mess. And my sis looks like she's got a fat lump underneath her lower lip.

The flapping clothes I noticed, too, but contributed that to the different texture handling. Figured it was broken before and for once they fixed it. ;)

I've noticed this, too, but for me it was the butt! Suddenly mine has corners. I'd begun to think that maybe I'd imagined my smooth contours of yore.

Mine have always been boxy if I slide that slider to far... but as she is they are rounded.... But I have noticed recently my avatars ankles are HORRIBLE no matter the shape I use!

I've been wondering about a few things like this so I'll post here rather than open a new thread.
I recently updated from the 1.19 viewer and I'm noticing a lot of slight changes around... I'm wondering if everyone is seeing these or if i'm seeing things.
1. (already answered) sharper corners on breasts, butt, hips, ankles, cheeks.
2. Editing linked groups of flexi objects/sculptys (like hair) causes them to display wrong (poke out in all different directions) until you deselect them with the editing tool.
3. Point of view seems to have a slight "fish eye" effect, where the center of the screen is magnified a little more than the outer edges.
4. When using the camera controls, your AV likes to lose focus on the cursor and no longer looks in its direction.. just stands there like a statue until you move or R-click something.
5. Other people's AV animations like dancing and walking play double speed when you view them from a slight distance.
There's a few others not worth mentioning. I guess I'm wondering if these are unintentional side-effects, or intentional decisions by LL in this viewer series. I've been behind in viewer versions for a while now so it's all new.

Also noticed you can send files by dropping them into your IM text box instead of having to bring up a profile, though I've never tried it before so I guess it might've been that way all along

The changelogs hear you out on this, and it's not terribly much of a surprise since the SL viewer's source has been open to community development since 1.18. History has shown whenever a project moves from a closed model of a few developers to an open model with many developers, there is usually a trend towards more frequent releases with a greater degree of change.

This also means that unless you want to help write code or report bugs AND you know how to use the JIRA properly, there's not really a compelling reason to put yourself through the trouble of tracking down and/or creating your own daily builds, or grabbing the RC or betas, unless you want and have the time to participate in bug squishing.

This is normal whenever you're taking a spherical prospective and stretching it to fit a planar surface. You get the same effect, to varying degrees depending on lens and projection as applicable, with any camera out there, as well as star charts and maps covering an area of more than a few city blocks.

I wish I could find the setting that controls how wide this FOV is; it would be handy to tweak since the viewer doesn't seem to compensate for aspect ratio in windowed mode (most apparent on my desktop if I extend SL maximized across both monitors: The far ends tend to be quite stretched as SL tries to map an inhumanly wide field of vision to that window; I'll probably file a bug on this once I can properly, and hopefully quantitatively, describe it...).

Working as designed if you're using the flycam panel instead of operating the flycam directly using alt+mouse, as I understand it.

If this is reproducable, it's probably worth filing a JIRA on if you have some time to spend describing it in detail; I haven't noticed it myself.

A great way to tell if other users have spotted it is to take a look at the JIRA at http://jira.secondlife.com/ This site lets you report bugs to the folks working on it and see what bugs others are experiencing (and to vote on 'em if they're nagging issues for you, too).

Interestingly, you cannot hand folders through the IM tab, but you can hand someone large numbers of individual loose items that way. The *exact opposite* is true of the profile window.

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9832 Here's the one about folders not working on IM windows, but I can't seem to locate the opposite problem now.

Up to now I haven't noticed any of the claimed undesirable changes to avatar graphics, apart from the way the system hair, when set 'short' to go with a prim ponytail, moves side-to-side around the neck when walking.
