those turds and scribd.com ALL OF A SUDDEN decided to stop hosting adult docs.
we picked up a thousand views from there alone each month but i hated drivin traffic to their site. another doc sharing site more than likely wouldnt give us the traffic boost like scribd.
so what would ya do metrics being the end all and be all? host your pdf on ur own site or try to find the next up and coming scribd?

/me looks for the relevant SL-related question

/me, not finding one, just goes ahead and waits to be called names or something

I would build a box out of old parts, maybe 600 to 900mhz with 512mb or so of RAM and install my favorite flavor of linux (Fedora). Then I would go to a place like dydndns.com and grab a free URL and host it myself.

I think you should just go back to a web based format, reading your zine in pdf was annoying and haven't looked at it since your first pdf version.

nope er we find MAKIN pdf's easy, its just that scrib got us like a 1000 extra views a month. trade off was we were wasting time driving traffic to their site. METRICS METRICS METRICS. BLAH!

I HATE PDF TOO! if ur machine is slow it is actually laggy but the medium allowed us to add more content per ish, provide a better layout (resembling an ACTUAL magazine so we didnt have to reinvent the wheel) and made making avertisments within the magazine easier AND allows us to sell space IN the mag AND on the site 9or rather on our sites we have three). Scribd even allowed us around 1000 extra views per month, but the turds suddenly stopped hosting adult material on THEIR site. our main issue here (cause we r not gettin rid of the pdf format) is the trade off of getting readership OUTSIDE of sl and ultimately driving larger hits to our website and losing control (the turds could decide the same as scrib) or keep control and drive all traffic to our own site.
