Is there any type of infringement here?

Okay, since the new upgrade and a new videocard on my end, I've been taking some awesome landscape shots of some of my favorite places in SL. I don't include buildings (yet) or any identifying items in the shot that I know of. Id like to open an art gallery and show/sell my photos for people to use in their home decor. My question is: Is there some type of copyright/infringement issue with the owners of the sims im visiting? If so what would I need to do to get permission to sell these types of photos. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you

In RL if I was driving down a country road.. took a photo of a cow pasture and sold the photo in a gallery then no there is no copyright or permission required.

Taking photos of commerical property and selling them starts to cross the line. Unless the photos are used in a journalistic nature.

Taking photos of people and posting them without permission is a violation of the person's rights and you should have a model release. Again unless it is a journalistic nature.

Above are the rules I follow in my RL photography and I apply them to 2L also. Is that right or wrong? I don't know.

Taking a snapshot of someones textures and then selling them as textures will get you banned.

Mouselooking inside someones home and taking photos could get you ARed.

Of course I am the first person to reply and I am applying RL logic to 2L. So I may be all wet. In that case my apologies.

From what I remember, TECHNICALLY you have to get the permission of everyone involved, from the land owner, to the creators of the builds/plants/etc, to any avatars in the photos. I can't remember exactly, though, and I think most people just let it slide. Might be a polite thing to check with the landowner.

Thanks for the responses, having supported the banning of individuals stealing textures in the past I don't see that as an issue. The camming into private locations is also low on my list of things to do in SL :P, Im speaking strictly of landscapes, and while no copyright looks like it would be violated I will be respectful enough to speak to the landowner. You two basically confirmed what I already thought so thanks!

Your welcome to shoot my places, but I doubt they would qualify as art
