I have not been on SL all that long and have not had too many problems over the last 8 months. I have become rather used to way things don't happen in terms of support on SL but I do understand how difficult that can be for someone running an online game like Second Life. After much hesitation I finally bought an 8192 sq.m. island put a lovely big house on it, swimming pool, etc. so, really quite an investment (10,000L for the house alone). A problem with Second Life developed (unrelated to the land purchase) and I have been trying to resolve it. The support site and live chat have been inaccessible to me for at least a week, perhaps two. I have IM'd the Lindens in charge of the problem and received no reply. I finally faxed Linden Labs the day before yesterday, setting the problem out and asking them to resolve it. No reply. The initial problem (alleged assault) and their unwillingness to even talk to me has brought me to the point that I have taken this personally and am just about to sell everything up and move on. It is not the minimal disciplinary action that is the issue it is the principle of being disciplined when I was the victim not the offender.

So the question is: Is this a normal response from the Lindens when things go wrong or am I taking this too personally?

what exactly "went wrong"?

i'm sorry if you can be more clearer in what your problem is you will probably get a better answer.

as to their response to problems, it depends on the issue. if its a griefing issue, all you cna do is file an abuse report with as much detail as possible, and the abusers name.

other than that, i'm not sure what you are asking.

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Sometimes issues never get resolved. It sucks when that happens, more so when you are paying so much per month (and up front) for an island.

Take it personal? I wouldn't. Just be persistent and keep trying to get a Linden on the line to help. Isn't there a hotline for sim owners to call? If so have you tried that avenue?

Good luck.. I hope you get things RESOLVED.

Please also note that the support portal has been under maintenance periodically in recent days. You always have the phone to call LL. But if I read you right, you don't own mainland, and therefore your support options are limited. Live chat is not available because you are not a concierge-level member.

Please also be mindful that LL has logs and they can check them. You will be notified when they take action.

If I'm reading between the lines correctly, I guess I'd advise just letting it go. At this point you've registered your objection to being falsely accused. In matters like this, right or wrong, the ref makes a call. You can object, but pushing it too far is just gonna be counterproductive.

Thanks all for your input. Just to clarify things a little Maggie, I was the victim of an attack but was accused of being the attacker (this has happened before). It was impossible for me to file an AR because I was being caged and orbited and before I could do anything else, I was suspended by an administrator (within seconds). This action was completely unbelievable and defies common sense.

No, I don't own on the mainland but in an estate. But, as a premium member, I do have access to Live Chat but neither it nor the support site has been available to me for a week or so.

Perhaps I will take your advice though and take it on the chin (again). I am beginning to think that I am on somebody's hit list. But I will continue to follow this up.

I would just make sure your estate owner bans the offender from your sim and just move on.

Malicious residents are a big worry, especially if they threaten to turn the tables and AR you.

I had a nasty experience in group IM chat once, when I got in a disagreement with another member who accused me of being one of SL's most notorious ad-cutters.
Yet I've never cut a piece of land up to sell as ad lots in my life.

Try Live Chat again. As well as tech issues causing massive amounts of contact they have had actual outages. Have to be patient when you do contact them as it can take a while for them to answer as they are dealing with other cases already.
