Halloween events being killed by lag?

I have a nice pc, with a nice video card and a speedy cable modem connection to the internet. I do tech support for a living, so my pc is running very well. Recently I have tried to go to some Halloween themed places. Invariably I have had to leave due to lag that was so bad it made me seasick to walk around.

I realize a lot of this is due to AVs with ridiculous amounts of bling, flexi and scripts. I know some of it is due to people using large textures when small ones will do. Still, is sim performance usually this poor? I tried going to these places during off hours when very few people were there and it was still unusable.

So is this working as intended or am I just unlucky?

Your experience is similar to mine. One SIM in particular has what is supposed to be a good mystery/treasure hunt type event going on all month, but even in the off hours when it's just a couple people there, lag was horrible. After trying for a over a week, and never being able to get more than a four or five meters over the course of what seems like an eternity, only to be rubberbanded back to within one or two steps of where I started, I finally gave up.

But hey, I'll try again this week. Why? Because I'm a glutton for punishment.

Well lots of that halloween stuff is scripted, using sensors and other gimmicks. I usually turn down graphic range down to 96 or even 64 and it's acceptable.

What sort of lag are you experiencing? Texture downloading lag? Time dilation? Script lag? Render lag? It helps to be specific.

Unfortunately, I am not sure. I tried looking at the various lag meters but do not know how to read them yet. :P If anyone can tell me how to read them I'd be happy to let you know.

I don't want to name any particular sims and hurt their business, and pretty much every sim had the same problem anyway.
