Is there a way off the origional training island without finishing all the "training" centers? I have a new alt and I can't figure out how to get off there and I soooo don't need to go through the training.
Thanks

When I went through with my most recent alt, I just searched a shop I knew the name of and teleported away.

Thanks The tutorial is a HUD, so just detach it.

IM a friend and have them TP you to wherever they are. Then they can laugh at you for being all ruthed out. When I brought in Mumfuzz I had Oryx do it because we were both working on the forum project. I think it was a little disturbing for her. My first words on the mainland were something like "Ooooo, you look hot Mami!! How about teh sexies?" It was nice for Mumfuzz to experience a little rejection and get called an idiot right off the bat on the mainland. I didn't want him to get any visions of being a player when I wasn't looking.

Could you log off and type in a new location when you log back in?

I'm leaving my alt there until I have a lag-free time to go through the process. It was *impossible* when I tried. I want to see what happens to people that I encourage to try SL.

With my last alt I tp'd to help island and detached the HUD. Simple.

I crashed about 5 minutes into my orientation and when I relogged I was somewhere far away from orientation island. I feel like I missed out on something ever so special.... Anyway to answer the OP's question, if you wait around long enough I'm sure a SL crash will pitch you off the island

There's a board that you touch in the center of OI that will give you a teleport to Help Island or OI Public - one of the two. You do not need to complete the tutorial to teleport out. =)

I assumed you had to go through all the steps first so that's what I did with my alt. I think it took 5 minutes, ten minutes max, so it really wasn't a big deal.

My last alt, I never left the OI central courtyard. I just stepped into each of the 4 areas, completed the 4 basic tasks, and then touched the sign to go to Help Island. Once she was there, my main account befriended her, sent my alt some L$ and some essential landmarks, invited her to my land group, and had her TP to the mainland to buy her avatar, hair and clothes. She was shopping in 5 minutes. It took longer for the HUD screens to rez than it did to do the tasks.
And I think I have just touched the sign and gone straight to Help Island, without completing even the four basic tasks.
Incidentally, you can send L$ and Friend requests before they even log in for the first time, as long as you know the name of the new alt. I'm not sure, but I think they have to at least get to Help Island before you can send them landmarks or other inventory.

Why has nobody else thought of this excellent way to get around LL's restriction on "no residents other than new arrivals and Linden volunteers" on OI? Brilliant!!!
