Hi,
I need a 'Home'. My old one has been excommunicated (I think).
I need somewhere quiet, low lag, where I can build (ie open boxes) and run scripts.
A home has to be on a mainland infohub ( whatever that is ).
Can anyone suggest a nice peaceful place where I can rest between encounters ?
smiles

Do you mean you want to purchase land or just you want to set home somewhere?
Some groups allow you to set home on their property; some people are willing to open their homes to others to share. It all depends-

I set my home to the Mauve Infohub. It's very quiet, and it has a number of sandboxes.
"Mauve" is the name, not the color of the place.
It's not obvious that the infohub has sandboxes, though. They are adjacent, but I had to fly around to find them and set a separate LM.
If you don't like Mauve, I can suggest some others but they are SECRET. IM me if you need to know.

Someone gave you false information about Mainland hubs. Perhaps you misunderstood when they suggested you buy a Mainland plot of land. There's a lot of things you need to know about having a piece of land to call your own in SL but lesson #1 is you have to pay for land here, either by "purchasing" a Mainland plot and paying tier and premium membership fees to Linden Lab or by "renting" on another resident's Mainland or Estate and paying them directly. I know. It came as a shock to me too. To find out more go here and click on the FAQ: http://secondlife.com/land/

Mainland hubs are okay, but eventually you may want your own piece of land to be able to set as home. That way you can leave what you build rezzed once you are done building. Off Topic, sorry. Raymond, you are so cute. I just want to give you a squeeze every time I see your forum av. Is that a cracker you're holding over your head?

This was my favorite sandbox before I bought my own plot: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Mirai/32/65/26/But it is not an infohub. Just a handy spot to LM.

I wish it was a cracker. It's the cage door...holding on for deal life. Kinda like RL. Thanks for the virtual squeeze though.

Can't set home to there yet (might be a goal some day if I get a whole sim, dunno) but you or anyone is more than welcome to hang out at either the changing rooms place near the FCH (also, I'm sure, in the FCH, but that's someone else's) and/or in the park.
I have a park on another part of the grid.
Both are mostly empty, though the changing room gets more traffic even though it's small. The park has stuff to do and is always being changed/hopefully improved. I want it to be a place you can chill.
You can set home to the SL Botanical Gardens if you join their group, and it's a very pretty sim. It isn't mine either, just giving another option.
The changing room place is intended to be a newbie help place one day, right now it's a few places to lounge, a jukebox to dance to, and a couple of places to change clothes in private.
Just search on changing room or park and you will probably find them, or IM me in world.

Hi again & thanks
No, I dont want to buy my own land, my bf cannot afford it (smiles)
I just need somewhere to 'land' when I 1st login, where I can try on new clothes without being messed about by horny males
Thanks again

FH Well, you can set any place in SL as where you log in, if you choose 'rez in last place' instead of 'rez at home' (or it might say 'begin game') in preferences under edit. Then, just log out somewhere nice. You will reappear there next time you log in, with SL borkage being the exception. (If a sim is down it will send you to an infohub if you have no home.) As for changing rooms. I have two changing rooms on my changing room land and one changing room in my park land. You can use any of those, or, just type changing room in places/search and you will find several other places which have changing rooms for public use. Please don't log out inside them though, since someone else might be in there when you log back in again. lol If you want a 'home' you can also rent one for as little as 150 lindens a week. Or, if you want to 'set home to here' again you can join SL botanical gardens group and set it to your home. They have details on that at their land. Just search in places "SL Botanical Gardens." PS the Forum Cartel Hangout has a changing room too. You teleport to it from the house.

if you are female, you can consider searching NOOB island, the owner has set up a women's home for all those who need a place to hang out and to set home there.
Just look around on the landing point, there's a big board to teleport over to the Home.
(sorry i have forgotten the exact name of the home.)

$1 Houses and skin pack (for women)
07-24-2009 01:24
I remembered this place. It has a wall full of houses of all types and they are really good, too. Also a pack of skins, and away signs that say busy, photoshop.
$1 each! Just in case anyone reading this thread DOES need a house itself.
