Server rollout resetting scripts?

If you have vendors or other scripted items whose scripts should not be reset, you may want to check on them. All of my vendors seem to have been reset by this rollout in several different locations. Since I'm not there "in person" to grant debit permissions, they self-destruct. I suspect that there are a lot of vendors which do not self-destruct like mine, which are currently incapable of giving refunds or doing affiliate payments :(

There are a lot of security orbs and the like which should never reset, I hope they are not broken.

This is actually possible. The heavy changes to lsl in this server version could be causing a conflict.

Make sure you are absolutely certain though before you spread this around. Because this server has been running for almost a month trouble free in beta.

I am not sure if this is related and its so weird too! I just checked my business after the rolling restart and and my cat had changed his name. I named him Blackie (yes very uncreative!) but after the restart his name changed to "Pooper". Lol!

Well, I am absolutely certain that my vendors were reset, kind of hard to be mistaken about that.

What I *don't* know is whether this is happening to others or if it's just me or something to do with my scripts (some of which use XMLRPC for instance). I've only reported it here, so there is plenty of opportunity to dispute or corroborate it.

Another point to note... I never do any business on Mainland, and so far as I'm aware, they don't have private islands on the Beta grid, so it seems likely that none of my objects exhibiting this behavior even exists there.

it's not so much a matter of the server version running, as it is the changes that occur during the rollout, which might be forcing resets in certain circumstances. assuming proper coding, it shouldn't be an issue... vendor resets, reestablishes any needed connections, waits for any needed permissions, and then goes on about it's merry way.

ETA:
LL will add private islands to the beta grid on request, but it usually takes them awhile, and they don't stay there long.

That's comforting, though it's the first time I've seen this behavior in the three years I've been in SL, so naturally I assume it's something to do with the actual server code. Additionally, there were multiple stages that coincided with which parts of the grid that were updated.

I do hope it's an isolated/uncommon incident, that would be great.

I still think people should double-check vendors and important scripts that may not notify their owners about a reset, regardless of how or why they might have been reset.

Well, it does seem to be remarkably consistent. I've gotten six IM->email notifications from vendors that have been reset now :(

Whatever the cause, I do think it's worth checking out if you have networked vendors or any other script that should not be reset.
