World Map size

Today I decided to see how big I could make the World Map on my screen. Indeed I can make it fill up my entire screen. There-in lies my problem. Now I cannot make it go back to a much smaller size like it was before I messed with it.

By grabbing the edges I can shrink it down horizontally to about 1/3 of the screen width, but I can only shrink it down vertically to about 1/2 of the screen height.

It seems like it was much smaller than that before I started. Either I've lost it, or I'm missing something probably pretty simple.

Is the a way to make it smaller than that?

Look at the area on the right, with the buttons and search fields and such. Does the big "Search Results" box take up maybe 1/4 of the vertical space? If so, that's as small as it's going to get in my experience.
