Hey all; Here's the deal. I tried opening my SL standard viewer but when I double clicked it my "spiny" circle (vista) would come up and then simply disapear. So rebooted, as that is the cure for everything, but it still wouldn't work. So I uninstalled and then downloaded SL from the page on secondlife.com, and when I went to install it there several .dll files "error opening file for writing: they are: C:\program files\secondlife\xul.dll C:\program files\secondlife\plds4.dll C:\program files\secondlife\plc4/dll C:\program files\secondlife\openjpeg.dll C:\program files\secondlife\nspr4.dll C:\program files\secondlife\msvcr71.dll C:\program files\secondlife\js3250.dll C:\program files\secondlife\fmod.dll and C:\program files\secondlife\secondlife.exe <----execute file,
I'm using the Second Life Release Candidate 1.19.1 (1) to acces now, but what is up with the standard viewer file that it won't let me install it? I've downloaded it 4 times each with the same result on install.

From: Qie Niangao Administrator? Are you asking if I am the administrator? If so, yes.

Hmmm. So, grasping at straws now: have you tried a reboot before an install? I'm hypothesizing (desperately) that perhaps those files are still "in-use" by Vista even though uninstall tried to remove them.

I'll give that a shot after a bit, I'm logged on now and in the middle of something. any other suggestions out there?

Strip everything SL off your computer (including manually deleting the Application Data files) and then try installing again. I had a similar issue with a Windlight and regular viewer once and that was the only way I could get them both running. It didn't recur with subsequent updates.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.
